I need your thoughts and support
« on: March 15, 2007, 11:16:31 am »
On Tuesday night, my son, his GF, and my granddaughter were in a devastating automobile accident. Head injuries all around, and social services has taken custody of Serentiy. Our family will all be attending a hearing tomorrow morning while a determination is made of where to place Serenity.
Son and GF were inebriated, and GF was driving. She has been charged with reckless endangerment amongst other things.
Luckily, social services is already familiar with my son, because of what he went through with Christy before she committed suicide. Serenity is all he has in this world, and he realizes that this was his wake-up call.
We believe they will likely place Serenity with my other son, while Mike completes whatever tasks they impose on him.
He is entirely undone by the fact that he cannot see her(none of us can), and what she may be going through without any familiar faces around.
Please keep us in your thoughts. :'(

So sorry to hear of this terrible heartache, Lisa. So much regret, confusion and pain at times like this. <sigh>
You and your little granddaughter, and your son, will be in my thoughts and prayers. You son knows he made a big mistake.
This is so tough on him too. I sure hope you will be able to visit with Serenity soon!
xxx,
Mike

Oh lisa...

I am so, so sorry.  Your whole family at home is part of our family here and I feel crushed reading this.  I'm not an especially religious person but as I'm planting in my garden this morning, I'll be thinking of you.

Lisa,

I'm really sorry to hear about that situation.  I know it must be especially frustrating since you're basically powerless to do anything at this point.  You know you've got support from us all.  Take care and I'll be thinking of you (and family).

Aw shit Lisa, does it never end? You poor woman... and poor Serenity. Neither of you deserve to have all this trauma in your lives constantly - wish I had the dosh to bring you both over here for the summer where you could relax for a change in a safe environment!

You're back up to the top of my love, light and positive energy list - maybe if I'd kept you on top to begin with... ~sigh~

Hang in there hun. Better days have GOT to be around the corner!

Lisa, so sorry to hear this.

Firstly at or before/after the court hearing , your son should provide CPS/DSS ( whatever the agency is called there, a CPS liason should be in the courtroom) with a list of names of people to be checked out to be supervisors for his visitation. Should none pan out as suitable to CPS, CPS should provide someone to supervise (usually just one hour per week).

This is going to be a long road, and hopefully your son will do everything they say, ASAP and without faltering, so he can get Serenity back as soon as they will alllow it.

You don't mention it, but I hope that your 2 sons and youhave a good relationship. That'll help a lot in the coming year.

I wish you and your family all the best.

Besides my own family tragedies ( mom , father , sister (uncle) , and uncle died from cancar ) I have a sister from my my other uncle that have something similar to a autism.
Why I`m telling you this .
In this moment maybe all that we can offer to you are words an they are not sufficient enough. You need a hug , a look , a kiss maybe .
So my advices are ( speaking of a point of own family tragedies ) :
1. Seek for hug , a look , a kiss maybe , from any person close to your hart. That helps a lot.
2. Person who is most jeopardized need help the most ! And you know who is it.Try to find a way to be together.

I have tears in my eyes, and am deeply touched by all of your warm wishes. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I'll be off to the court house in about an hour, and will let you know what happened when I get back.
We are trying to keep a positive attitude. I have a gut feeling that things will work out, but am still prepared in the event that it doesn't.
I really love you guys. Thanks again.

Dear Lisa,

Hope things go well in Court today. This kind of thing can be overwhelming, tough and scary to get through. But you and your family will get through it even if there are bumps in the road.

Keeping fingers and other crossed for you and waiting to hear your report.

Big hugs,

Hey Y'all,
Sorry that I dropped the ball. I have been a smidgen overwhelmed over the past week.
Despite the fact that Michael was not the driver, and was not responsible for the accident,......the dept. of Social Services found him to be neglectful due to his state of intoxication the night of the wreck.
While our whole family was in court on MOnday regarding her placement, Serenity was being released to a foster home. The DSS prosecutor made Mike sound like public enemy #1 in court, but that is her job, and we expected it. She and Mike were being driven home at 10:00PM(past a respectable bedtime for a little 4 yr old girl), and daddy had had too much to drink.

This morning was his first visit with Rennie. Needless to say it was incredibly emotional. When she first walked through the door at DSS, he said there she is, and she locked eyes with him, moaned aloud "Daddy", and ran straight into his arms. It was a speechless kind of moment. She clung to him as if it were her only chance. My heart was overcome with the tenderness of the moment.

We got to meet Martha, who is one of the foster parents, and her husband Brandt. They seemed to be very nice people, and we are encouraged that Rennie is in good hands through this difficult trial.
Next week a home study will be completed on Brian's home(Mike's twin brother), by DSS, to see if it is a safe environment in which to place her.

It was heart wrenching to witness Rennie's tears when she had to leave. She came ever so closely to the gutteral, deeply grievious voice that she unleashed at her mother's funeral. It was nearly more than my heart could stand, so I can only imagine how torn Mike is. He knows he has majorly fucked up, and has thrown himself upon the mercy of the court, and Social Services. He is normally an exemplary father, but got lost in wrong things following Christy's death.

We return to court on Monday, to revisit her foster placement, but a home study will have taken place in the interim.
We are all cautiously anticipating her placement with Brian(Mike's twin), shortly thereafter.
I remain optimistic.

Lisa, Thanks for letting  us know what is going on.  Hopefully it will all work out, soon. Will they let you or Serenity's father call or write her while she is in foster care. That might ease her pain.  Anyway best of luck. PM me if I can help.  Cristy

Your optimism is gonna help greatly. We're optimistic too. Best wishes for Monday and for the placement with Brian, hopefully soon. Glad you got to meet the foster parents.

Love,
Alex
