Do we have any forum trolls here?
« on: June 30, 2007, 04:20:57 pm »
I'm wondering if there well known forum trolls here that I should watch out for.

I have seen one particular poster who seems to post only useless non-sense in the topics he posts in. His replies consist of:   Asker: Did you see XX such and such XX movie?       Poster: Oh, yeah. Um. I downloaded it and forgot to watch it.

Just wondering, thats all.

Yes, I am a troll.  Thanks to the new poster.  Geez louise.

I stated somewhere that I downloaded "Sicko" and didn't watch it and THAT makes me a troll?  wtf

This thread is kind of. Not such a good idea.

The trolls, denialists and spammers are weeded out pretty quick. If you can put up with a few pretentious queens you'll be okay. Learn to laugh at the tragedy that is one-upmanship and you will have a jolly good time.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

I was just getting myself acquainted with the forum and I was reading through a bunch of old posts and I happened to stumble upon a bunch of yours that seemed to offer nothing to the topic at hand. Then you replied to my topic, in a similar manner, and I was wondering whether or not this forum got frequented by trolls often.
If you're not a troll then I suppose you have nothing to worry about.

No, I didn't respond to your topic about appetite problems with anything out of context.  I offered information on something that helped me with a qualifier.

JamieD, you site mental  health problems going on within yourself several times. Do you think at this time it is wise of you to be involved in a forum such as this instead of seeking professional mental health counseling?

I'm not sure how to take your response, so I will answer it as if though you were sincere.

I am grieving right now. I am seeing a therapist and an Infectious Disease specialist. I can't be in therapy all the time. I am just grieving right now. being on this forum has actually helped me in ways that my doctor can not.

Part of the give-and-take of an online support forum involves refraining from calling people with over 3500 posts a troll. It's hideously poor form, darling.

Jamie,

If you haven't already, I strongly suggest you read the Welcome Thread - the whole thing, please.

Thanks.

As Dachshund said the moderators are quick off the mark when it comes to trolls..so no need to worry about that.

This is what the "Off Topic" forum is all about...banter between the guys, silly stories, and general everyday thoughts...no one takes anyone too seriously in here in the "Off topic".. it's just a bit of fun, so just relax and enjoy the banter.

Okay, but when there is a thread on what age you want to live to and people answer with things like "I am immortal. I am the undead" (and other similar responses) that is what I consider "trolling" despite the fact that their answer is technically relevant to the question

Hi Jamie,

Sometimes people do use black humour - it kinda comes with the territory of serious illness. A good laugh is a tonic.

I understand that you are feeling overwhelmed with everything right now and some joking might seem insensitive to you. Please do believe that things will get better and you will feel like joking around yourself soon. If there's one thing you need to cultivate when you have hiv, it's a sense of humour.

I'm going to lock this thread now, because although I understand you didn't necessarily want to upset anyone, I don't want this thread to end up in flames.

Hang in there Jamie.
