Should I visit the Clinic?

Just after some quick advice on whether I should drop into a clinic for more info and possibly PEP, I had a recent meeting with a private sex worker that involved a number of unsafe practices, which included:

1. Unprotected oral
2. Brief vaginal penetration without a condom (3-5 thrusts, after which I asked to put on a condom to which she did immediately)
3. Her climaxing on top of me and secreting vaginally (from dry humping)

As far as I know (and have heard) this sex worker doesn't offer unprotected services to everyone and probably only relaxed such protections as I had seen her before for different services.

The day after (today) I have an incredibly sore neck which I am attributing to oversleeping and uncomfortable sex positions during the encounter. Though the possibility of swollen glands also has me wondering.

My thoughts are around PEP treatments and whether they are warranted in my situation. From what I have read they are highly toxic and not given out lightly, but can significantly reduce chance of infection.

I have tested negative in the past and have only ever contracted Epstein Barr from my practises and have always used protection in sexual encounters (this was in fact my first ever penetration without a condom!).

I'm not particularly worried at all, but just wondering whether I should bother to ask for PEP at my local clinic.

I intend to get tested in 13 weeks to confirm and not engage in any further practises until then.

No, you don't need PEP. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is more difficult to transmit from a woman to a man. You're not likely to end up positive after this brief unprotected encounter.

But yes, you do need to test at the three month point. And please learn from this - no more unprotected intercourse, no matter who you're with.
