a question
« on: December 04, 2016, 04:19:05 pm »
Hi by bf of 6 years was has Aids when he got diagnosed his cd4 was 9 he was very close to death. Its been 2 years sense then anyway he is doing much better not back to work and everything. My question is does anybody know about (ADC) AIDS dementia complex. Ive noticed alot of changes to his personality and him forgetting basic things like where things r in the kitchen we have lived in the same house for 5 years now. Everytime I bring it up he always has an excuse or just says he rembers things and just starts a fight. What I want to know is how does it start and I dont know how to deal with it without going behind his back and telling his doctor. Just in general how do u deal with somebody who u love and is your best friend who is actually going though a brain dementia. Its very frustrating and I feel very alone. If anybody has an experence please help.

Hi

Please only post in the "Someone I Care About Has HIV" section.
Thank you.

hmmm so HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) questions...
Look nobody can tell you here if something is wrong, he simply needs to see his doctor.  It could be nothing at all wrong with him or something but not at all HIV related.

To be honest "ACD or as its also called HAD" is rare nowadays and mostly mild and you have no reason to think this is the issue. This was a far bigger problem in the past.

Anyhow he needs to go see his normal doctor before thinking its anything major or HIV related.
