Flu without fever?
« on: January 14, 2013, 09:10:34 am »
Hi all,

This is my first winter living with HIV and first on meds so if this is a silly question please forgive me. So far 3 times since the start of December I have just felt terrible for 3-4 days, tired, malaise, headache... but I'm not experiencing what you would call 'flu like symptoms', my temperature is fine and my nose is not really congested. I have had bloodwork done and it all came back OK. I don't think its Atripla as I have been on it since August and been fine up to now.  Was wondering if anyone else had this kind of thing? Thanks.

It sounds a lot like the common cold.  I saw my doctor last week and he indicated he's seeing a huge number of people suffering from the flu and colds.  I have been having these same type of symptoms since right before Christmas.

He indicated that it could take several weeks to be completely over the symptoms.  Did you get your flu shot? ;)

Typically, the flu doesn't stretch out as long as you've described.

Take care and best wishes.

Wolfie

Hi Wolfie,

Thanks for the reply, my doc gave me the Flu shot late December , I had already been ill before that. I hope it is just a common cold and nothing too serious.

Then I am going to go out on a limb and say that you don't get the flu.

Really does need that fever.
