Selenium Side Effect -- Stomach
« on: March 10, 2008, 12:26:30 pm »
Good afternoon all:

My stomach has been bothering me for over a week and I'm trying to figure out why. I started back on Selenium around the same time and was wondering if that was the reason my stomach is making my life difficult.

Thanks in advance,
Jake

Hi,

Just put off taking the Selenium for a month, and see if the stomach issues resolve. There are some supplements that bother my stomach. It may not be related to the selenium at all.

Take care----Ray

Hey Ray:

As a matter of fact, I've stopped taking Selenium to see what would happen. Yesterday I felt better and  today even better. I was taking  too damn much of that stuff.

Am still going to have stool tests done, just  to make sure it's not anything else.

Thanks for your help,
Raymond

How much were you taking Jake? 200mg per day is recommended to boost your immune system.

However 700mg or more can actually suppress your immune system.

Actually I was taking 200 mcg a day and sometimes a tad more. It really bothered my stomach for some reason. I've decided to take 1 100mcg capsule every other day and just test the waters on how much is okay with my belly.
