Btw, how is his health? He had a liver transplant, right, after contracting hepatitis b or c? Believe it was B. Weren't there reports Carol Burnett secured a liver transplant for him? Is that true?

It was Hepatitis B. And yes, Carol Burnett helped him.
Excerpt from 1994 People magazine article about it:
"...Nabors' second call went to his best friend, Carol Burnett. "Jim spent 10 minutes making me laugh," she says, "and I was still laughing when he said, 'Honey, I've got something to tell you.' " Burnett sprang into action, searching for a top liver specialist and finding Dr. Gary Gitnick of the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, who submitted Nabors' name to a list of transplant hopefuls.."

we (meaning I) saw Goober (not Gomer) in Maine a few years ago in a restaraunt.
to this day my hubby refuses to believe who it was.

I am sure most of you saw how gay the Mayberry men were. They were all single. Gomer, Goober, and Floyd the Barber were effeminate. They had "girlfriends." I don't remember Gomer or Goober really interested in women. Aunt Bea lived with Andy, which is like a man living with his mother. Opie was the result of heterosexual experimentation.

It may have been but if my failing memory serves me well she was mostly on screen when Gomer had a weekend pass while in the marines . My brother and I used to laugh our ass off at Lou Ann and her funny but fake southen accent .
There was one episode where Sargent Carter much to Gomers displeasure became infatuated with her and kept encouraging her singing career and that's where I remember her singing That Old Black Magic , very badly . I watched this show everyday after school along with Gilligan's Island .
