Title: I Had To Do Things I Am Not Proud Of For This
Post by: tednlou2 on December 10, 2012, 03:15:39 pm
I was surprised by this.  Louisville was named the number one destination for 2013.  We've had a revitalization in the last decade.  Our downtown is coming back, with new stores, restaurants, bars, and apartments.  We have the new YUM Center built for the University of Louisville basketball team, and new hopes for an NBA team.  We're saving historic buildings that were falling apart.  Our 21c Museum Hotel was recently named the number one hotel in the country.

So, come visit Louisville.  I'll show ya around.

Killadelphia made the list and San Antonio did not? What a shocker.

Our dear Gary also resides in Louisville.  It is always nice to hear that a city is getting improvements every day and is a vibrant, fun place to be.  When we were in Washington this past summer Gary was saying how it was a nice southern town.  Well us Yankees might take umbrage to that ;) but that has been said about DC.  There are so many tourists there and I don't necessarily get that feel the times I have visited, unlike Nashville or New Orleans (Miami-FtL, don't count) but either way it was alot of fun.  I think the lines between north and south have lessened over the years- TV, movies???.  I guess Kentucky is a little like that, maybe a genteel southern feel but much of northern KY is north of parts of Ohio and Indiana.  Anyway perhaps a future AMG destination?

Jody :)

The Glee kids know how great Louisville is.  I don't watch the show, so I only found out about this while watching Ellen.  One of the characters moved here for school.

I am using my iPad for the first time and noticing I can't copy pic links like I did on my laptop.  It's not putting the pic in on preview--just the link.  Don't let this give you a bad impression of Louisville.  Many are Apple literate.  I am not.

Modified:  forget that.  I am better than I thought.

Haven't you heard of "hipbilly"? And yes I'm being serious.

Who wouldn't want a big ass old house in Louisville or Saint Paul, or St. Louis, or Boston or on the beach in Cape May

This one is very American Horror Story:

No I haven't.   However, one of my old hipster friends that used to live in Seattle ended up moving to Chicago about 7 years ago.  He has since fallen in love with Louisville and has on many occasions talked about how great it is.  I just had in my mind that it was a beautiful place (architecture and scenery wise).  I had no clue it was "hip."

I try to be inclusive -- there must be an inhabitable place for fundamentalist Christian hipsters somewhere in the heartland.

I met those guys at one of the local gay bars.  Well, they talked to us, but we thought they were creepy.  When the story hit the news, I told my best friend we have seen them somewhere.  He said those were the guys who tried chatting us up.  He said he saw them again and while drunk considered going home with them.  He still hooks up with strangers, but usually texts me the address where he is.

OMG!

And someone bought that house. I don't know if I would have the balls. But the real estate site had lots of photos and you could see how you could make a nice profit on a behemoth like that.  (Until the ghost wreak havoc...)

Fort Wayne?

Fort Wayne is already hip, by virtue of it being my place of birth. ;D

There are some Vera Bradley bags that do Liberty of London better than Liberty of London :).  And Liberty of London is kissing cousins to Biba.  And what could be more hip than Biba?

I love Fort Wayne.  I have family there and will be spending time with them a couple of times in the upcoming months.  One of my cousins is getting married in Chicago in May.  Then I am spending a week with them before AMG Chicago.
