Something to ease the pain...of loneliness...WORDS
« on: December 13, 2006, 09:58:29 pm »
I wrote this as a plea to the universe...soon after my diagnosis...still full of romantic, youthful ideologies:

Soul Mate

The earth was once my lover for I placed my trust in the land.

The mountains knew my touch as I opened my heart to their strength and wisdom.

I buried my sorrow in the dirt and felt its healing magic.

Its comfort was like Mother's womb and allowed me to break free from fear.

Wildflowers gently caressed my face as their honeyed perfume overcame me.

Whispers behind the wind lulled me into a deep sleep as my spirit took to the sky.

I became the warmth of the sun as my golden light spilled over the leaves.

The mischief of the shadows drew me into the nightscape.

I glided through the mist as beads of water clung to my skin.

The darkness enticed me as the moon revealed its mysteries.

A part of me thrived in this melancholy glow of introspection.

I became thirsty for the sea.

Knees of desperation fell to the sand as I surrendered to the churning blackness.

The winds of an eternity pushed out remorse as the ocean pulled my pain out with the tide.

A chill swirled through my body as I felt the need to return.

My flesh anxiously awaited that spiritual reunion.

I returned to find you hovering above me -- your hands feverishly roaming over my flesh.

The dream was too alluring as dark angels kept me chained to their persuasions.

Your mouth crushed down upon mine as I laid there motionless.

My desire to love you poisoned death's grip on me as I awoke in your arms.

Your touch shed light onto the joy and sadness that I have kept hidden from humanity.

Your eyes did not turn away from my secret self.

A myriad of images pierced through the darkness like lightning.

Some were as evil as the devil's nightmares.

Others were as pure as the light reflected in an angel's eyes.

Your embrace reassured me of your unconditional love as our souls became one.

Not sure how this escaped my notice for two whole days!  This is beautiful, Brooks.  Simply beautiful.  This is one for me to keep.  Thank you.
