Thanks for the heads up on this -- the presentation is available to stream on thier web site for a few weeks.

The short story of the presentation is that they are releasing preliminary results from the SB-728 trial on Monday, September 10th at the ICAAC (conference in S.F.).  The preliminary data indicates that the process not only reduces viral load but also increases CD4 cells.

As always, this news needs to be taken with a grain of salt - but it may be another piece to the puzzle for the long run.

It's not clear to me what news they are releasing.  They have older trials where they found that one heterozygote went UD.  They have two new trials (heteros and cytoxan/increase uptake of CD4s).  I think they are only releasing more data from the older trials.  They said previously they'd be releasing data from the two newer trials in in the first half of 2013.

Also, increasing CD4s is great!  But it's not surprising since they pump a lot of your own cells back into you.  If VL can be brought down significantly, or to zero, well, that will be really big news.

Is this supposed to be an actual cure or just reduction of viral load without taking meds every day?
