Hi All,
My boyfriend was diagnosed as HIV+ about a year ago. The incident was somewhat traumatic, though we are both doing well and have remained together. My boyfriend had unprotected receptive anal sex ONE TIME and knew almost right away (though tests didn't confirm completely until 6 weeks after he had been infected). He had all the run-of-the-mill signs and symptoms within 2 weeks, and it was diagnosed much earlier than most people at the GLBT center where he was tested. At the time his viral load was VERY high (in the millions) but his CD4s remained high as well. He started taking ARVs about 2 months ago and is now virtually undetectable. Anyway, that rant has nothing to do with my reason for this post, I just wanted to get it off my chest...
Anyway, I am looking for serodiscordant/magnetic/mixed-status/whatever-you-call-it couples for friendship. I'm still adjusting to his diagnosis - obviously he is as well, and would like some support. We live in the NYC area and are grad students. I'm still very frightened by the idea of sex, anal and/or oral, though I'm getting better - at first I wouldn't even make out with him. I hate being this anxious and I know it's irrational and stupid.
Soooo, please PM or send me an email address or something if you are in a similar situation and would like to chat :-) I'd love to speak with people in the NYC area as well as nationally/internationally. Thanks guys!

As you can see, been HIV+ since '83, and met my sweetie in '88. I don't know exactly what you would like to know, so I'll just let you know I'm here, and would be glad to answer questions here. I don't care how personal they are, but I think it would be best to chat in this thread, as it hopefully would help others. So, lets talk, and I'll let you in on anything I've discovered, and anything you want to talk about. ;)

My partner of 23 years was diagnosed about a month ago. We are still waiting on his most recent bloodwork to find out all of his levels.
This has been so traumatic for us both. We have been intimate but used condoms for anal sex. Yet, I still worry each time and always worry when we have oral sex.
Don't want him to feel like a Leper but don't want to become positive either.
Having a friendship, or routine contact with, someone else who is going through the same thing would be a thing of true comfort and beauty.

New to this site also. Tested pos in Jan 2010 after tripping and falling down and getting stitches on my face at the local E.R.
I've been with my partner for close to 30 years. He tested negative after I convinced him to go and get tested. We have not had sex since then. We still sleep together and spoon and hug each other everynight. I have never felt closer to him. He has stood by me no matter what happened. Even how-my forgetfulness has been
I'm doing alright on meds. My CD4 count was 84 in Jan and viral load was 180,000. Last count CD4 was 224 and viral load was about 800. I have been taking Atripla and Sulfameth TMP. Lost a lot of memory and was diagnosed with HIV Encephalopathy.(think that's the spelling.) I go in tommorrow for my results with my new HIV Doctor. Suppose to be a good HIV doctor at the V.A. Clinic. Applied for SSDI but been waitting for the claim to come thru.
I'm on TDI, expecting my last check in 2 weeks. My partner and my family does not want me to go back to work because of my condition. I hope you will stand by your man no matter what hapens hope you stay neg. I too wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. Aloha

My new HIV specialist is amazing. He went over my lab tests, and even gave me a copy of my results. My cd4 is 204 and viral load is <48 undectectable. He told me to keep on the SSDI and had me apply for the V.A non service disability. My partner was very happy with m y results. Got to improve my CD4 count though. Something my previous ID Doctor never did. She even told me HIV was not a disability. >:( >:( Hope all is well with everyone. Aloha

Are you looking for gay or straight magnetic couples? Maybe both?
You should check out Shawn and Gwenn. He's had HIV since he was a kid, she is negative. They're married and doing great. They are approachable if you wanted to email them:
