New York gathering? Did it fizzle?
« on: December 30, 2006, 10:49:33 pm »
Somewhere on these forums thre was a thread about a mini gathering in NYC, but I can't find it. I'll be there January 19-21.  This guy I've been "seeing" (hard to call it dating when you're 1500 miles apart) is in Austin this weekend and we went to see Night at the Museum today, now going to a museum is definitely on the list of stuff to do either Saturday or Sunday. Anyone up for that, or dinner or something? other ideas? I'll be bringing my hippie chick friend for her first visit to the city, and I haven't been there since I was a kid, so we'll probably do some other tourista stuff like Times Square, Ground Zero etc.  And I definitely want to sample this pizza everyone keeps talking about!

Basquo, that was HIV Worker (Richard) I think who mentioned that sometime early in the year he's likely to be in NYC. Nothing definite was established.

There are many different styles of pizza of course. My own preference is for brick oven style, thin and nicely crusty edges. There are two peerless places for same: John's on Bleecker Street and Alfredo's on West Houston Street. Both of these are in the Village, an area you will likely wander into.

Let's be in touch closer to when you're arriving.

Have a good holiday and a wonderful New Year!

Hey Basquo,
I'm an hour and 15 from the city by train and a member of the AMNH.  I'd love to go with ya.  Let me know what the plan is.

Hi,

I mentioned this. I will be in NYC on Feb 27th this year. I would be interested in meeting a few people for coffee or something. It's really informal. We can make plans on this thread or make one nearer the time? I will have to catch the train home that day.

Sorry, I missed this thread...

Rich
NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

I also thought Rich was coming in Feb, so that's were it dropped off. Basquo post the times you think you are free and then any and everyone who can show at that time can take it from there.
Btw Ground Zero from my understanding is completely hidden now, as well as the fact they are going over the place for more body parts- you might want to pass on that. Unless you plan to go to the church.
The last time I was there things were completely blocked.
Also I suspect it is still a hazard area even if they don't say anything.
I used to live right down the block from John's  in the 80's and every Friday Woody Allen would be there!

Okay, got a better handle on the situation--I think!  It looks like Sunday afternoon we'll be doing John's on Bleeker St.   Sometime between 3 and 5 good for anyone?

As for the AMNH, we'll probably do that earlier that afternoon or perhaps Saturday; they have a butterfly conservatory and you know I'm not missing that! (insert Mariah lyrics here, please.) I should know more by Wednesday.

Hope to see you all there!
