My absolute count is holding steady

Current:  713

My VL continues to indicate good viral control with my regimen.

Current:  <50

My cd4% is another matter;

In February I had finally broken the 14% level and hit 15%,  in May it had climbed to 17%.  My doctor commented how he was pleased to finally see that kind of # and positve movement.

Current %:  14%  POOP!

Not really much I can do, it is what it is.

Hey Rocky,

I know the % isn't what you had hoped for (or expected), but I am glad your absolute number is hold up quite well and your viral load is undetectable.  Given the change in the % but not in anything else, perhaps there was some sort of underlying infection that resulted in the change in the %.  All and all, good numbers!!!

your numbers look pretty darned good!!!! less then 50, and over 700!!!! i guess i dont get the whole % thing... im at 190 cd4, and 22%  ..... i guess that we are all so different that the rules dont always apply... thats what i think about you dear Rocky!!!! go with the cd4... and the% be damned!!!

Great Numbers! Have had four different HIV drs over the past 17 years, none of them have ever mentioned %.

I understand your disappointment with the %. It's ominous when that number declines. I'm confident it will head back up in the next few months.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, either.....

Next time, that % will be higher....I just have a feeling.

Rocky,  I agree with everyone else... GREAT NUMBERS!  I would think that being over 700 is fantastic.  I know that there is a disconcordance between having a CD4 that high and a % in the range you do, but sometimes I think we are all just made differently and the rules don't apply the same to everyone.  Like others have mentioned, many docs don't even look at the CD4% that much.  Maybe in years to come that is an area where they need to do more investigation.  I was like you... very high CD4 number and very low %.  I was in a bit of a panic over that but I think it was a lot of worry for nothing.  So hang in there and keep those old CD4s on the rise.

Your numbers are great !! I understand your thoughts, and concerns, on that small drop in percentage. I took a drop the last time also. I guess I am at the point, where I am doing everything I possibly can, to keep myself healthy. Well, not everything, I need to exercise more.... :P  We all have to do the best. wee can

Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
 Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

 As of Oct 2nd, 2023, Viral load Undetectable.
CD 4 @676 /  CD4 % @ 18 %
Lymphocytes,absolute-3815 (within range)

Rocky.

Aren't numbers a funny thing, though?  Two weeks ago I went to the airport to fly out to Montreal.  Before my flight I stopped off at the lab and had my blood drawn.

I got the results back last Wednesday.  Still undetectable.

But my t-cells are another matter.  The CD4 count went from 540 to 409!!@!!!  WTF???  I just about fell off the edge of my chair when she told me that.

Then I asked her about my %,  It went from 33 to 30. 

Go figure.

713 is a great absolute number!   :)
I would rather prefer to have a high CD4 count than %

Talking about % mine are kinda weird too...
Did 2 CD4 tests: 1) 2 weeks before starting meds and
                        2) 1 day before starting meds
CD4 count went down from 209 to 178 but % went up from 30 to 34
seems like the % do fluctuate quite a bit even within a short time period of 2 weeks
