last night me and my partner of three years went to a sauna.... we met this guy and decided to have a threesome with him.

NO ANAL SEX AT ALL.

our sexual intercourse was resumed to kissing and the guy gave my partner a blow job and rimmed his anus.

so my partner was laying down and this guy was rimming my partner, then the guy proceeded to suck my partner's penis and after a minute or so I noticed some red drops on my partners pelvis (near the penis).... so I told the guy to stop immediately and we checked and it was the guy's saliva mixed with blood.

the guy checked his mouth and he was bleeding.... apparently from braces that he was wearing!

so my partner's cock came into contact with this guy's mouth that had saliva and blood/

my partner told me it's a very low risk incident and he is not even talking about it taking it like it's nothing, me on the other hand I am worrying a lot!

I searched the forum for questions similar to mine but they all involve just being exposed to saliva, not being exposed to a bloody mouth.

I would appreciate if one of the experts here can asses my partner's risk!

-NO ANAL SEX
-KISSING
-HE RIMMED MY PARTNER
-HAD BLOOD IN HIS MOUTH BECAUSE OF BRACES WHILE GIVING MY PARTNER A BLOW JOB

thank you.

Rimming, kissing and receiving a blow job are all not risks for HIV infection. Yes I am taking into account the blood in that fellow's mouth.

HIV is transmitted via unprotected anal and vaginal sex, via sharing contaminated injecting equipment such as needles and syringes and in some cases from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing baby.

Why isn't the blood from that fellow's mouth a risk? Because human saliva contains numerous things which inhibit HIV. There are no documented cases of HIV being transmitted in this way and there is no reason to suspect your partner will be the first.

Your partner does not need to be tested for HIV as a result of this encounter.

No, PEP isn't needed in this case.

Even though your partner doesn't need to test over this episode, it would be a wise idea for the pair of you to have a sexual health screening at least once a year. Twice is better. A full screening will include an HIV antibody test.

This is something all sexually active people should get into the habit of doing.

Take care,

sorry for asking, but.... what if there is more blood than saliva?

will saliva be strong enough to inhibit the virus?

It may have looked like more blood than saliva, but in any case that is irrelevant. There was no risk for HIV transmission and there is absolutely no need for PEP.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected anal and vaginal intercourse. Everything else is only "theoretically" a risk. In the real world of HIV we know that risk is about unprotected intercourse.

You and your partner are worrying needlessly.
