Under a lot of stress
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:33:55 pm »
Hey Doc,

I'm a 21 year old male from India. I was involved in an incident which made me think about the possible exposure to HIV which I might have had. I had a french kissing session with a girl who claims to have multiple partners and correspondingly I developed the idea that I might be infected. I've been reading online about the disease online and have been noticing quite a few symptoms as well. Right about 24 days from the exposure I developed a cold and a sore throat.

1. Is there any risk of getting infected via french kissing?
2. If there isn't, are my symptoms anxiety driven?
3. Should I take a test?
4. What are the chances of me coming positive?

You were never at risk from "French" kissing.

Kissing, "French" or otherwise, is absolutely not in anyway a risk for HIV transmission.

In terms of sexual risk for HIV transmission, you just have to always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you always do that you will be well protected against HIV. It's really just as simple as that.

That's right, no testing is necessary. Just keep the condoms handy for when you are getting around to having intercourse. And use one everytime. No exceptions.

You're good to go.

Cheers.

Sir,
I have been developing quite a few symptoms within the 4-6 weeks span. I had a sore throat, cough and cold and now I think I have rashes too. Are these stress induced? Or are they for some other reason.

As you have been told this is not an HIV situation so it's possible it is stress related...stress can cause all sorts of ailments....check with your Doctor about your symptoms, there is nothing we can do for you here.
