Got tested Positive
« on: April 10, 2014, 02:45:37 pm »
Hello . I recently got tested HIV positive (about 2 weeks ago). I have since felt extreme sadness and loneliness. No one in my life knows I prefer to tell them when I am ready. I have been looking for people that I can talk to and discuss living with HIV. Then I stumbled upon this site.

I am not really good at introduction I apologies.I hope to participate in various discussions and topics with you all. I really look forward on becoming apart of the community.

Thanks for your time in reading this.

Hi Bjonz, welcome to the forums.

Hello . I recently got tested HIV positive (about 2 weeks ago).s.

Have you been confirmed as hiv positive with further testing? Any positive antibody test result needs to be confirmed with a Western Blot test, because sometimes antibody tests return false positive results. The WB test is used to screen these out.

If you have been confirmed with a WB test, have you made an appointment with an hiv or infectious disease specialist? That is your next step. The specialist will take further blood to find out what your numbers are - specifically your CD4 count and viral load. This will tell you how healthy your immune system is and is important information.

Hi Bjonz, welcome to the forum. This is a great forum and there are a lot of supportive people here. I also got tested positive two weeks ago. I kept thinking about it all day long in the beginning. But now I try to block my mind not to think about it too much. I met a person who has been positive for 30 years and he said he don't think about it at all and he lives in a normal life. So you can still have a normal life if you believe and choose to.
