Useful Information About Your Boston Bus Pass
« on: July 29, 2009, 12:32:03 am »
Included in everyone's welcome bag will be a Charlie Ticket (reduced fare), provided by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. There is no value associated with these cards, so everyone will have to add value at one of the fare vending machine. Cash or credit can be used to load value to these cards. Depending on how often you use public transportation, $8 - $10 should be more than enough.

These reduced fare cards will give us the following benefits.

Local Bus - .40 cents
Bus w/transfer to local bus - .40 cents
Rapid Transit - .60 cents
Bus w/transfer to rapid transit - .60 cents
Commuter Rail - 50% regular fare

Please visit http://www.mbta.com/fares_and_passes/charlie/ for more information on how to use your ticket at stations or how to use the fare vending machine

CharlieTicket

Reusable and Rechargeable. Load single or multiple rides or a T-Pass on a paper ticket.

Get the Card TodayThe CharlieTicket is a magnetically encoded paper ticket that stores single or multiple rides or a T-Pass. You load the ticket with value using cash, credit or debit cards at fare vending machines, retail sales terminals, or MBTA ticket offices. Fare vending machines even accept old T-tokens.

Once you load value to your ticket, you 'insert' your paper ticket at fare gates and on-board fareboxes and the system deducts value from your ticket accordingly. When your ticket runs low on value, simply visit a fare vending machine to add value or store a monthly T-Pass on your ticket and ride as much and as often as you like.

See you all in one week!

Dennis
