My landlord unexpectedly said I could get a dog, which would be so nice, i have a nice house with a big yard, I work at home, there are big dog parks here in san diego, a dog beach, etc, so I'm thinking about getting a new pet and that would be a happy doggie :)
I've seen cute pictures of AM members pets, from pigs to birds, so why not have a thread with all of your pet pics? I'll post my pet pic when I get one, so far the only one I could post is a 24yo in a leash, but I don't think it counts :D

Through the years I've had 11 cockers spaniel from the same family line. The 4 cocker spaniels that I have now are the great-great-grandkids to my first spaniel, "Appollonia's Purple Reign". Ginger, (white german shepherd who is almost completely blind), Charlie (not sure what she is. Someone dumped her and when she showed up at our house she was skin and bones and covered with ticks. We also call our Jodi our million dollar dog because that's what it seemed to cost us after she broke her leg as a puppy. She was chasing our then yellow lab down the stairs and slipped when she jumped from the stairs to the tile floor. It was winter and we had to keep her cast dry. Being a puppy she never let the cast slow her down.

They think the bed is theirs! At times it's a struggle to find room for us in bed. Thank goodness we have a king size bed! We say if there is a next time we'll get a small dog but we are fond of the big ones. ;D All 3 of our dogs were adopted in the month of Septenber over several years so we just need to stay away from the shelters and rescues in the fall.

some more family...Bebe is a lab-chow mix, Kibby is terrier and god-knows what else, Rex is mix Rhodesian Ridgeback (greyhound-style body).
It doesn't take a lot of acreage to have llamas as they utilize grasses and feed to the max. We have 9 llamas on about 3.5 acres yet I still have to get in there and cut the pasture to keep it from getting too high. Jeff & I have 7 acres of which we use about 4.5 for yard, pasture, barns and holding pens. The neat part about where we are is that there are woods in front of the property and wooded hills at the back.

Seven years ago I kinda freaked out when partner came home with an anouncement. "Were moving WHERE?" I said. "OHIO!", he said. And we did. And here we are still.
Things develop as the days turn into months, then years, etc. Another words, egello, it's not something you suddenly have thrust upon you & partner. You start off with a couple of pets and grow as you feel you can manage. Keep the animals small and give each and every animal proper vet shots/deworming schedule then if you can afford more.........then so be it. For example, you'll start out with a riding lawn mower and maybe in 5 yrs. you'll get that Kabota with the snow removal blade and post hole digger attachment ( ;D ). You don't get barnyard animals like cows or horses unless you're wealthy as they eat a tremendous amount. We give our llamas & goats their shots each year but bring our dogs & cats to the vet--they have claws and teeth and are very fast when pissed! ha! ha! We have had to bring a couple of our llamas to the vet in Columbus for tooth extractions (twice) when they developed abscesses. This is to indicate there are unexpected expenses but nothing overwhelming. Hope this has given you a concept to work with?
You mentioned your ages for what reason? Age ain't a factor; maturity is. It's simpler living if that's what you two desire. Simple living and not too far away from the offerings of the city either. Requires a bit of responsibility. And a bank loan.

Koi pond + cats = trouble. It's WAY too tempting for the little devilish felines, me thinks. Our 2 cats kill little birds and cute little baby rabbits and baby chipmunks. Is it because they are hungry? No. They are just inclined that way......just for the sport of it. Sometimes they will eat the head and leave the rest. I get pissed at 'em but what am I gonna do? Dunno. Just no more cats! Two is too much as far as I am concerned........but Jeff loves 'em. ::)

Maximus Pride (llama) at 2 weeks. Close-Up, baby. He has recently found his legs and the fact that they are capable of speed.
Oh boy! You should see him run just for the sheer joy of it. Round the pasture, through the barn doors and out again! Yesterday he pronked for the first time.

For a long time, we were "The Three C's" Cindy, Casie and Cheech. Casie had to go to doggie heaven the last week of April and Cheech and I miss her very much! Casie was 14-1/2 and was a Beagle/Corgi mix. Cheech is 13-1/2 now, an Australian Shep/Alaskan Spitz mix. He is my "Groundhog Dog" since his birthday is 2/2/94. He is my BEST buddy and has gotten me through a really rough year. :)

From left to right are our kids as follows:
Rindy-Roo, aka Evileena, aka The Bat-Eared Demon. She is an 11 month old juvenile delinquent who never met trouble she didn't like. She is a Boston Terrier crossed with (just speculating) Satan.
Baby Elmo, aka Daddies Little Girl, aka Edna Waddlebutt. She is a four year old Appenzeller Sennenhund, a herding breed from Switzerland. Baby Elmo and her brother, Waldo, are the only 2 of their breed in Albuquerque. Nationally, there are less than 500 of them
Waldo, aka Wallyboy, aka Thunderlungs, Has 100lbs of bark stuffed into a 50lb body. He too is an Appenzeller, being Elmos older brother. He will be six in Sept.
They are sitting on the front porch of my new house that I just bought, They are gonna like being country dogs again.

Hey Milker,
This is Kaiser (as in Permanente) I was still trying to learn how to live with AIDS and decided the best thing to do was get a dog. Had been looking in the L.A. Times classified and found a "free to good home" for a German Shephard and was going to call that number in the morning.
Had a room mate who was moving out and still had his cat in the house. I got up early the next morning, let the cat out and the back door open, went back to bed.
All of a sudden, this dog runs in the house and jumps up on my bed. I said Hey, Hi you, (that was 1998). Kaiser was apparently on his way to the pound that morning and ended up with my neighbor. He had been living in a crack house, was rarely fed and his vocal cords had been cut and had the most pathetic sounding bark.
I took him to the groomer who recognized him and said he was a good dog. He has ridden thousands of miles in my MGB, then the Whale Gusher and now the MGB and the Saab. The two words which invoke a response at my house are "car" and "ride" ;D. He has a hard time getting around these days with hip problems and has to be walked up the steps but, I do spend most of my day at the computer and he is always by my feet. I have spent almost 10 years designing a series of industrial safety products, using behavior modification techniques and incentives to insure a client company can provide a safe work environment while remaining competitive enough to create jobs. This dog know a lot... Have the best day

I'm pet sitting Luna, a 2 month old Great Dane, for a week. She likes my dog Bonnie, they play well together, sometimes a bit rough but I'm the "pack leader" :D
Luna is as big as my dog who is 6 months old..

We don't have any pets in our family, buit WE have been adopted by the next door neighbours cat, Jim. He isn't allowed in the house next door, he has his own shed complete with heater and electric blanket.
He wanders into our place and takes over the place and tries to set himself alight infront of the heater (as shown in the photo)
He is very affectionate and loves being brushed and stroked (typical male)

I walk Kaiser in the pioneer cemetary across the street several time a day and night. Some of these people have been in the ground for 150 years. They are the families who cut down the trees that rebuilt San Francisco in 1906.
Kaiser usually stops over a stick of interest and I always say something. Tonight, I said, "LOOK! at that stick... it is large enough to fit in a hand or a mouth, much like a cock." ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Have the best day

We had another dropoff on our road on Monday (Oct 8th). A mature Pug who seem so lost and hungry when he wandered onto the property. Today (Oct 11) we have found a home for him. A lady who lives in the next county who loves and keeps Pugs wants him for a companion to her Pug!

Iggy is a perfect name for that pug! Someone really just dropped him off?? You said "another dropoff"... does this happen alot? People can be so cruel....I don't get it. Guess I'll focus on the fact that people can also be SO nice....your relocation efforts for Iggy remind me of the GOOD that can exist everywhere...
