After six months any gain in the weight may be sign of the hiv infection, and also i am suffering from thrush in my mouth from last five months , so please let me know this sounds like hiv?? or is it possible to get thrush with in 1 months of infection, let me know if any body is having the same symptoms ??? is weight gain is possible if you infected with hiv??????
Matty the Damned:
Thrush is not a symptom of HIV per se. Many people without HIV get thrush. Neither is weigh gain. You should read the lessons here at AIDSMEDS. You'll find the link in the upper left hand corner of the page.

jimmy,
Symptoms, or the lack of symptoms, mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection and for this reason, we do not discuss symptom. We will, however, discuss your risk with you. What happened that makes you worried that you might have become infected with hiv?
And by the way, unless you have been diagnosed with thrush, there's no point in worrying about it because you quite possibly don't have it anyway. Get to a doctor and get a diagnosis. We cannot diagnose you here.

Ann:
Kev,
You did the right thing and used a condom. Even though it broke at some point, you were still protected until it broke and it is unlikely that you would become infected from this incident.
However, the ONLY way to know your true hiv status is through testing. Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs. If you haven't already tested, now is the time to do it. A test now will be conclusive and I'm fully expecting your test to return with negative results.
Thrush is caused by a fungal organism that EVERYONE has on and in their bodies. It only becomes a problem when overgrowth occurs. This can occur for many reasons and the most common one is antibiotic use. Antibiotics also kill the friendly bacteria everyone has that keep the thrush organism in check. You DO NOT have to be hiv positive to have problems with thrush. And as I already told you, unless you have been diagnosed by a doctor, you cannot assume you have thrush. It is difficult even for a doctor to diagnose without taking a swab and having it analysed in a lab.
Symptoms mean nothing. Only hiv antibody testing will reveal your hiv status.
Get tested. I fully expect your test result to be negative.
