am i infected pls help?
« on: July 19, 2007, 09:52:42 am »
hi. i got a few question regarding the tranmission of hiv and i really hope that you can help me.
1) i engaged in deep kissing with an escort and during that time i had ulcer in my mouth and i am wearing braces. Am i at any RISK or not?
2) Another possible risk i am exposed to is that, i visited a prositute and before i can ask her to wear the condom. she just proceed to give me an unproctected ORAL SEX. Am i at any risk or is there any documented case.
3) in the case of deep kissing, if there is blood available in the saliva and my wound is open will i be infected.thanks
Thanks for ur time.i really hope that you all can help me as i am being paranoid for the last 1 mths or so.

None of the activities you are concerned about put you at risk for HIV transmission.

There has never been a documented case of HIV transmission from getting a blowjob. It's safe to say you aren't going to make history by becoming the first.

Read our lesson about transmission. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. You get all the basics there.

This time out you don't have any cause for concern about HIV.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Chip,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

As you have already been told, you were not at risk for hiv infection. Condoms prevent hiv infection and if there was anything wrong with the one you used, you would have known about it, without doubt.

Getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection, with or without a condom. Kissing is also not a risk.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

While you do not need to test over this specific incident, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Keep using condoms, correctly and consistently for anal or vaginal intercourse and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Chip,

Symptoms, or even the lack of symptoms, mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. We do not discuss symptoms in this forum. If you're having physical problems or worries, take them to your doctor.

A person has to engage in risky behaviour before infection can take place. You didn't engage in risky behaviour. You didn't have a risk.

You're just making up what if scenarios here now. You haven't had any risk that I can tell from what you've reported.

It might be time to invest in seeing a counselor to talk about your HIV anxiety before using the money to see another sex worker. This is not an HIV situation but I believe your worrying is real.

Cheers,
