Worries : Syringe Attack and Anal Rape. OCD?
« on: August 22, 2012, 09:27:32 am »
Hye guys.

I guess, I'm having a very bad anxiety and OCD over HIV. but just need reassurance from you guys.

1. On last May, I went to Bangkok and went to massage place. In there, the masseur have done handjob to me and I was rubbing her nipple and breast. I believe this is non-risk act. Isn't it?

2. in the same trip above, I was assigned to be in the same room with my colleague which is gay. I was very afraid and worried if let say he did something like anal raping me while i was asleep. and i did some research, they said that it is impossible that i will get rape but stay asleep. every morning when i woke up, i was never feel any discomfort on my anus. which comfirming that nothing was done to me by him.

a week after the trip, i was done the rapid test and it showed up negative.

3. I have another worries, which is getting stabbed by a syringe in the bus. almost everyday, i go to my workplace by bus. and almost everytime i will get sleep in the way to the office which took almost 2 hours. so i am very worried that what if some people or some lunatics gets into the bus and stabbed me with the syringe. if this does happen, is it really risky to me? how really a needle prick / stabbed by syringe will occur a risk.

So, do i really need to get tested from all above worries? or should i let it go. I will get married in next two months. i really worried if i give my fiance something bad.

I know most of the things that i worries is my anxiety over hiv. so lets say if you guys say that none of the above carry a risk of hiv, should i conclude that so long i dont do IV drug sharing, or do unprotected sex, i will free from HIV? and no need to do any testing?

Thanks,
Bob W.

Bob,

1. NO RISK whatsoever.

2. There is no way in hell you could be anally raped in your sleep and not know it. NO WAY.

3. The idea of people being infected by getting stabbed with a syringe by some random nutcase while out in public is nothing more than an urban myth. It has never, ever occurred in real life - it's only occurred in the over-active imaginations of people like yourself.

In adults, hiv is spread through unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse or by sharing drug injecting equipment.

Provided you have not engaged in those activities, then your negative hiv test from before is valid and conclusive. You do NOT have hiv.

I suggest if you're not already in therapy for your OCD, that you find a therapist as soon as possible. You don't have to live your life in fear of being stabbed with a syringe by a stranger on public transport.

You will NOT be permitted to use this website as a substitute for face-to-face therapy, so please be warned.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

hye Anna.

thanks for the reply.

It is not my intention to substitute my OCD therapy with this forum. it just I need assurance from the knowledgeable people like you guys, as my knowledge on HIV is very very little. As you know, people getting more worries by doing random googling  and the info available is sometimes misleading and not accurate.

Really appreciate your efforts.

thanks

Bob,

You're welcome. Now get on with your life.

For your own sake, I really hope you get into therapy for your OCD. There's a wonderful therapy called CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) where you can be taught to re-train your thought process. This will enable you to stop worrying about odd, intrusive things happening to you while you sleep.

You don't have to live your life being ruled by irrational fears, but it's up to you to do something about it. Good luck.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!
