Anal Insertive with Poz Undetectable; Condom Broke
« on: July 05, 2017, 08:29:52 am »
Hello everyone, I'll try to keep this as short as possible:

Exactly one week ago, I had for the first time with a guy I started dating.  We discussed our status and when we got last tested for HIV and STIs. He said last February, and I got tested in June of this year.

He performed oral sex on me for about 45 minutes.  I then put a condom on and tipos him.  At some point, I noticed the condom broke.  It looks like it broke from the tip and got pushed all the way to the middle of my penis, leaving the head exposed. I am uncircumcised.  It may have been about a minute or two inside him without the condom's protection.  I replaced the condom, we finished within five minutes, and showered.

I discussed the HiV/STIs once again and he assured me he was tested negative in February.  I even went further and went over my sexual history to assure him that the short exposure to my fluids would not harm him. (I always use a condom, and had never had one break).  Eventually, he admitted that he did have condomless sex, but that the last time he did it was in early December.  According to my calculations it would've been likely for an infection to show up on an hiv test by February if it were present.

I debated going on pep given the exposure, but he continued to assure me that the last time he had sex without a condom was in early December, and he'd used protection ever since.  The 72 hours passed

We had agreed to both do the test in front of each other with the at-home oraquick tests. This result wouldn't show our current situation, but it would show if we were positive/negative as of 3 months ago.  The kits would be shipped to his home.  They were supposed to arrive on Monday, but he was out of town until yesterday.

Yesterday, I asked him about the kits and he said his roommate might have picked them up from the door. He asked me if it would make a difference if his result was positive. He said it was a hypothetical question.  Once again, I asked him if he had used a cindom consistently since December.

He finally told me that he's actually been undetectable for two years.  I asked him multiple times for honesty and he flat out lied to me.  Had he told me about his status, maybe I would've been more proactive about getting on PEP. But at the same time, my health is in my hands and I should've gotten it regardless of someone's word.

He has provided me with some info.  He had a doctor appointment the day before we had sex.  He was undetectable consistently with less than 50 copies per mL and a cd4 cell count of 785.  He tested negative for all other STIs.

I'm trying to stay calm but would like to know if you all can give me any insight as to what my risk was.  I know there is a difference between full-on unprotected sex and a cindom break. I also know that being uncut heightens my risk.

Your help is definitely appreciated :/

Long story short, condom broke.
His claims and status never made any difference, the only result that ever mattered was your own

Test 3 months post exposures for a final result.

Hey Jim, thanks for the reply.

I know that the only result that matters is my own, I'm just looking to get insight as to what my risk was considering that he is indetecttable and provided me with paper proof dated the day before the exposure.

I've read some places say there is high risk, and other posts state there is no risk of the partner is undetectable.

You haven't known this person long and putting you're trust in him was you're business.
If all is true, you had very little risk if any, just test at 3 months as Jim advised you.
