Sorry I've been so cranky
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:59:57 pm »
It has been a topsy-turvey few weeks.

I have had to assist people in some rather untortunate ways recently. One, I had to have admitted to a behavioral health unit and for another I had to arrange entry into a nursing home.

I hate making these types of decisions for others. But, it is better that people obtain the help and assistance they need rather than do without.

I helped empty their apartments. One, I helped clean. The individual had lost control of his bowels repeatedly, everywhere.  The apartment owner is 84 and, although a fiesty lady, didn't need to deal with that.

I'm hoping the other will be out and about soon. He lost his apartment, may not have a job and his family refuses to speak to him (they don't approve of his 'lifestyle') but at least he'll be in a better mental space - I hope.

Anyway, dealing with these issues left me a bit more cranky than usual. Perhaps the quitting smoking added to it, I don't know.

So, if I've seemed curt, terse or mean, I just want to apologize.

OK, that's the rant for tonight.

HUGS,

Mark

Its off to the kitchen for some chocolate soy milk. I splurged, but, what the heck. At this point, I think I deserve a little treat.

Hi Mark

Compared to what you've just gone through, life just doesn't seem all that hard for me.  I don't know how you do it, I only know that in the world of HIV services, you are fighting in the trenches.  It takes a strong person to manage the daily land mines you have to deal with, I can only wish I could hold myself to the same pressures.

Rant all you want.  Be cranky, be bitchy, have a hissy fit or six.  You sir, are entitled.  ((((((HUGE HUG)))))

Somehow the rest just doesn't seem to matter.

Hell, if managing all that crap didn't make you downright bitchy, you're doing pretty well!  You've been dealing with a lot, so don't worry about being a bit cranky.  By the way, you've not seemed any crankier than usual to me!   ;)  (just kidding, you know)

David

Edited to add that I don't think I've ever read anything Mark's said that's been anything but friendly.  In fact, he was on of the very first to welcome me to the forums when I'd just gotten my poz diagnosis and it meant a lot to me.  I'm sure you mean as much to those people you've been helping lately.

Mark,

I mentioned in one of my posts the other day that all the long-term survivors I know are really STRONG people.   Thanks for proving my point (again) !

The people you are serving are so fortunate to have you in their corner.

Mark, I don’t think, in the 18 months I’ve been a part of the forums, I have ever actually seen you "cranky" or "curt, terse or mean" anywhere! (Maybe I just don’t read enough threads, hehe!) Anyway, it’s one of the reasons I sent you that pm recently.

The work that you do, for want of a better word, astounds me. Yet despite the challenges you face every day, you always seem to have/make time to share your experiences, words of advice and kindness here. I totally salute you for that.

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tough few weeks lately. I hope your next few weeks will be, well, less tough...

In the meantime (((Mark))) :) and keep on keeping on!

Btw, well done and good luck with the giving up of the smoking!

Cranky or not you're still my kind of guy; loving, commiteed, funny.  I wish you were my case manager but in lieu of that, I'll settle for 'friend'.  Couldn't be happier.

Mark, you still have time to edit out that chocolate soy which, coming on top of a lack of bowel control (and a Saturday in which one of our guys was kept from the bathroom too long) was rough to read after breakfast. :)  I hope that the cycle of problems and issues changes course for you to a lighter load.  (Even that sounds off.)  Best, Win

Being relatively new on the forum, I didn't realize you did this sort of thing daily. That level of caring takes H-E-A-R-T. How wonderful that you are doing this for people. Someone has to make these decisions otherwise those poor people can not move forward. You deserve a big hug from somebody. Somebody hug Mark, please! Oh, and you can rant, rant rant if you so wish. I mean, If it helps you release the sadness & frustrations you must feel. Forget the cigs, Mark. It isn't worth it. Don't do it.  :(
Oh, God! I don't want to live till 84 just so I can shit all over myself.  :'( Well, that's already happened....once or twice.

(edited: Ah, I see you have been getting the hugs. Not fully awake, (((((((((((((((((Mark))))))))))))))))).)

Mark,
Well if you have been cranky, you hide it well.  You get a big ol {{{{HUG}}} from me for all you do.  Thank GOD for people like you who care for those that cannot help themselves.

Take some "Mark" time and enjoy your chocosoy!   :-*

Mark,

If I could be half as selfless as you (while going through giving up nicotine no less) I would be a better man than I could ever hope to be.

They're very lucky to have had you around.

Given that you're working on kicking smoking I was expecting some bliips. Now we find out that on top of everything else you were doing some tough chores.

You're a good guy Mark, but we knew that long before today.

Big cheers,

I see our Dear Mark is too humble to tell you that don't know, his employment is with one of the best ASOs in the nation, and he is a Case Manager for a very huge territory in Northwest New Mexico.

I for one, would give anything if he was my case manager, just because of things like he illustrated here.  He is decated, sensitive, caring, efficient and obviously one of the most capable case managers I have ever had the privelege of knowing.

My dear Mark, please don't apologise for doing what you are doing and for God's sake, we don't give a damn if you get a bit overwrought.  I think it is perfectly amazing that you do such a good a decent job that you constantly do.

Love ya, and thanks for being there for people who don't know how to navigate the system and taking care of those who's health is questionable at best.

You are THE MAN!!!!

Dearest Mark,

I don't think I've EVER seen you be "curt, terse or mean". Certainly NEVER mean!

Both of these cases must have broken your heart. I'm so glad they had you on their side - so many case workers don't go that extra mile like you do and I bet your clients love you to bits. I know I do! I only hope your management understands what a special person you are and support you fully. You really are remarkable.

(((((Mark)))))

I hope you know you are always welcome to vent here, and my PM box is always open to you for just that purpose.

More hugs and a  :-* for good measure,
Ann
