I always carry my Ziagen (Abacavir) card with me. Just never know, if a situation arises , where I am not able to communicate the current medication that I am on. I also have the other meds that I am on ( Viramune and Viread) pressed in plastic.... thats in my wallet also.

Alex,

You sure do have a good imagination......   How is it embarrassing to drop a condom or an abacavir card?

Like Ray has already suggested, one should always carry a list of the medications that you are on, and if that is a problem to emergency people, then they need to get fired.

Remeber, only we can prevent stigma, and one way that will happen is if we nail the damn door shut on the HIV closet.

Sorry Alex, this is truth, in all it's unvarnished glory.

Moffy,
in that case 99% of all Serbian population has to be put on a " brain modulation machine " to eradicate their hate towards HIV+
Here if you are a + you are automatically a :
1.Homo pro of a lowest kind
2.Long term IV user with a criminal record
There is not a third option !

A some few years ago almost all of Serbian hemophiliacs were infected with HIV due to a import of contaminated African blood (government was avoiding to import blood from moresecured countries due to a higher prices )
Instead of suing the state , all of them were advised to shut up , because nobody would believe them without proper evidences.
And that fact told me my ophtamologist - the only one in charge for HIV+ in Serbia and a professor of the Belgrade University.

And a recent news: a Supreme court Of the State of Serbia was obligated to pay a 14000E~ 17000$ to a mother .That mother HIV+ was prohibited to see her only child for a period of 8 years , just because she is +

Need more evidences ?
I do not mean to argue with you , do not have any intentions of it , and I`m not
offended by any thought of yours ( on the contrary ) , but it seems to me that you have no right picture .........

Your response, and the facts that you bring to this forum; sadden me to the core.  Oh how I wish you were all free to be whole and live happy lives.  We in the west are far to spoiled to even be able to imagine just how depressive your culture is.  Personally, that is why I think your threads don't get the response they deserve.  Most Americans are so very far from the discomforts that you are living with that they cannot even relate to your words.

Sorry, I just feel that might be the truth.  Please keep posting and keep educating.  We all need to know what kind of opposition and misery you are up against on a daily basis.

I didn't post above out of rebuke, but out of frustration.  You and those of your country who are infected, should not have to tolerate such ignorance, but your strength on a daily basis is a "light in the darkness".  Don't you ever forget that.

I carry a list of my meds in my wallet. It also has the doctor's name, drug allergies, and my dosing schedule.

Can you carry a list, on a folded piece of paper, so that the private medical info is on the inside of the fold and not visible if the paper fell out of your wallet? On the blank side- print "medical information", so medical personell would be able to see it, if needed.

Would you be comfortable wearing a medical alert tag or bracelet? I think there are bracelets that hide a piece of paper on the inside where you can write down your medical info.

I am sorry you have to put up with such intolerance.
