Hi Y'all

I work for the National Health Service (NHS) in London. I am also positive and was diagnosed in Oct 2002. This funding controversy was front page news on one paper last Weds Aug 2nd.

Perhaps the real risks of ALL sexually active people contracting HIV in the developed world will become better known at long last, as a result. The cuts affect Public Health Awareness as well as actual clinical services.

I have pasted this brief news item from the internal NHS magazine the Health Service Journal. It seems that certain unscrupulous policy makers have been syphoning off money to plug the funding gaps elsewhere in the underfunded NHS.

I wonder if it's the same the world over?

Sexual health services miss out on government cash


'Many' primary care trusts and strategic health authorities are using cash meant for improving sexual health services to 'cover deficits’, according to the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV.


The committee say that initial results of its PCT survey indicate that funding intended to fund public health priorities set out in the Choosing Health white paper is only reaching 15 per cent of frontline services.


The findings were based on informal research through public health networks in England
