Am I infected? Scared :(
« on: April 19, 2013, 06:55:06 pm »
Ok, i've read extensively on hiv (oral in particular) in the last few days. 1 week ago, i was sort of drunk and i performed oral on a stripper. It was only for 1 minute and i didn't taste any pre cum, blood and she didn't ejaculate. I don't think she was a drug user but can't be sure. I have a good immune system and don't take drugs. Also should note i hadn't had sex in 2 years previous (that includes any sexual contact). I'm pretty sure i don't have any sores in my mouth but i do have one or two pimples around my mouth. Also wanted to know does there need to be a lot of fluid to be infected or is a small amount enough? (I'm sorry if i seem stupid) please help :)

Hi Idiot ( sorry , you chose the name  ) . You didn't have a risk and here is why , Saliva contains proteins and enzymes that damage HIV and render it unable to infect .

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex.

These studies yielded NO infections.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care checkup, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine checkups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks so much! i fully trust your advice. I've been to get tested but cant get the hiv test for nearly 4 more weeks. I'm still worried as its such a big deal if i did become hiv + (I mean that with respect to people living with hiv) but thank you! You have made me feel better.
