Back Home in Lou-ah-vull
« on: August 23, 2006, 12:39:06 am »
After an unplanned weather delay in Atlanta, I finally got back home in Louisville tonight around 9 pm.  Such an eventful week in Montreal...so many good memories, putting faces with names, hearing some inspirational stories from many of you, wonderful times over cocktails and dinner, a moving memorial ceremony (so moving I went back again on Saturday to see our plaque), my first gay wedding ever, hearing about a second gay wedding from our group on the same day.  As I "unpack" I will, no doubt like the others, think of more to share.

I can't begin to thank the organizers enough...their tireless efforts made this extraordinary event possible.

For the remnant remaining behind in Montreal, may you have safe travels home.  For the rest of the group, I cannot even begin to say how helpful this was to me.  I think for the first time since October (when I was diagnosed) I simply felt normal.  What a gift!

Thanks again....   Gary

Good to read that you're safely home, Gary. And  especially that you found the weekend to be supportive and rewarding. Something that I especially appreciated in both Toronto and Montreal was being with people who really care about the epidemic and so many who are finding ways to be of service in their communities. I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet you in person and have some excellent talk about many things and cabbages and kings.

Cheers,

It was great meeting you Gary, and fun to learn that we have so many similar experiences from our "early years" in Birmingham and Atlanta (and we probably saw each other at some point back in those days).

I enjoyed our conversations to and from Quebec City, it was great sitting next to you.

Hugs,

Alan

PS - hope you got the 'credit card fraud' incident all taken care of!

Well, the fraudulent charges still have not posted to the account.  So far, so good.  Furthermore, I learned that since I notified the bank within two business days, my loss is limited to $50.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Thanks for asking because it has caused some stress (although less now.)
