Title: I'm really nervous And need some guidance
Post by: 2167lonerguy on February 09, 2013, 12:34:03 am
On 12-27-12, I met this man online just for some oral. I went to his place and he proceeded to give me oral. I was insertive and unprotected. I then ejaculated in his mouth then left.
Since then I haven't felt the same. A couple of days after I noticed what seemed to have been swollen lymph nodes and a sore throat. On 2-5-13 I started to get a headache and flu like symptoms, mucus/bloody mucus, sore throat, serious headaches, runny nose and mild diarrhea. It's been 6 weeks and 1 day since that and I am worried. Could I be infected with HIV? Or could it merely be the flu?
Please, I need help.

Under no circumstances are you going to get HIV from getting your penis sucked. Saliva is not infectious, and also contains over a dozen different identified elements that neutralize HIV. This is why oral sex, either way you spin it, is not a risk for HIV.

Sorry you are feeling poorly however. It's a nasty flu season.

What if he had blood and I didn't notice. He also swallowed.

Swallowing makes absolutely no difference.

As for blood, this is only theoretically possible if you repeatedly punched him in the mouth, breaking teeth and causing hemorrhages. And even then, in the thirty year history of the pandemic, not a single infection has been traced to insertive fellatio. Not one. It's just not going to happen.

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex.

These studies yielded NO infections.

You don't get HIV from getting your penis sucked. There are no caveats.

Loner,

As JK told you, you absolutely have not had a risk for hiv infection while getting a blowjob.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
