« on: December 08, 2008, 10:08:06 am »
I bought (my friend bring me, cause I dont live in USA), Vit-Min 100 of Nowfoods, that have a bit of iron... Why people here say that use suplements without iron?

another question. wick is better formula of selenium? selemethione or amino acid chelated?
I also take 1.000 mcg of chromium picolinate a day, more 100 mcg seleniun, acido lipoico + acetyl l-carnitina. A doctor prescrive me takes Epicor for improve immune.

If you're a man, you shouldn't supplement with iron. Men don't usually menstruate, so they have no way of getting rid of iron. That's what I heard at least.

Why are you taking all that? For example, do you have a chromium deficiency? That is rare, if you do...
Are you HIV+ and are you on treatment??
For what its worth, my ID specialist and professor in Geneva Switzerland ordered me to stop taking anti-oxidants.  They are not needed for HIV people on treatment, and they might even feed precancerous cells, rather than fight...

You should only use supplements if they are indicated by comprehensive blood work.  Iron is very important as a level that is too low can cause Anemia.  The other supplements mentioned, do nothing to treat HIV and some can actually cause issues with HIV medications.

Stop treating yourself and let your doctor guide you to any supplements you may require.
