BBC - Radio 4 - Woman's Hour - Dating when HIV positive

Dating when HIV positive

There are thought to be 70,000 people in the UK with HIV, and twice as many men as women. As the first UK dating website designed exclusively for people with HIV is launched, Jenni discusses the politics of dating when you are HIV positive and the impact it has on relationships.

When and how do you bring up your HIV status? Does the proliferation of such websites mean that people now feel more comfortable about saying they're "positive" up front, or have they arisen because the stigma is so strong that it's easier to find someone in the same situation? And what effect is the threat of prosecution for reckless transmission having on relationships in the HIV community?

Jenni is joined by Lisa Power from the Terrence Higgins Trust, and Masias Cowper who's been HIV positive for 13 years and is now in a relationship with someone who doesn't have the virus.
