PrEP and oral sex

Hello,

I am considering taking Prep. I don't engage in anal sex, only oral. Would Prep still be beneficial? I am mostly thinking about taking it for piece of mind.

Look safer sex is all about reducing risks and often a combination of risk reduction methods.

Now the only oral with a risk profile in terms of HIV is an HIV-negative person giving a blowjob, however that risk of acquiring HIV is extremely low to the point that we don't recommend specific testing following this act. The mouth generally lacks the cells to provide route for HIV and saliva is hostile towards HIV, the risk of other infections is far greater.

That said PrEP would indeed further reduce any residual HIV risk and more to the point as you say yourself it would give you peace of mind, so well worth considering.
