SVU?
« on: April 30, 2009, 11:33:00 am »
I am not sure if last nights SVU was new, if anyone who watches can let me know.  It was about a doctor who did not believe that ARV's worked and that HIV does not led to AIDS.
Anyway, can anyone tell me why I was a Little disturbed or if you were by a couple of things on it.
It just seemed like many of those baby's developed AIDS very fast.  I know the average is 5-10 years and it could be less but it just seemed like there were many of the kids that were getting sick fast.  I guess since they were not getting the ARV's.
I am also very aggravated at how there are actually people out there who believe that crap.
Oh well just a rant.

franfrog, I watched the show... Its a re-run...It gave several good perceptions of the disease from different view points... A child with hiv generally can and will develope from being HIV+ to full blown aids in a short period ... due to the infants immune system not being fully developed. A friend of mine her brother found out he was hiv+ when his infant son was born with complications back in the late 80's... the baby died within months... her brother passed away in 1988 and his widowed wife recently passed away last year. He did not know he was carrying the virus until his infant newborn was diagnosed. This was a very difficult time for my friend... she was there for her niece, brother and her sister-n-law till the end.
