Hi.
Early this month i had protected vaginal intercourse with a ktv hostess in singapore. During the penetration i couldnt maintain my erection and gave up. I notice my condom slight slipped up. I understand and had been advice that i have no risk since it was protected. But i couldnt get my mind off on one thing i read on a ask a hiv specialist dr forum in singapore. He rules out that protected sex are still a risk. And he even advised someone with protected sex to read pep as he is in a potential list. I have been assured by the dr edward hook that i m safe from hiv transmission. I am not trying question dr hook reputation. I trusted him based his highly reputable profession. But my guilt ruling over me. Please may someone shed a light on this issue.

I am also a hsv2 positive. I had just recover from an ob with no sore appear during the act.

You did not have a risk as you used protection for intercourse.  I am not sure exactly what you are saying, regarding the Singapore HIV forum, but we know the risks for HIV infection and they are:

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Use condoms for vaginal and anal sex consistently and correctly and you will avoid HIV infection, it is that simple.

The author of that reply is sorely mis-informed regarding HIV transmission risks.  The information we provide is from peer-reviewed scientific studies that show that condoms are extremely effective in preventing HIV infection.  It is also why we do not answer questions, on what other sites may say regarding HIV infection.

You did not have a risk for HIV infection, no matter how you try and add other factors, to your NON-RISK.

Rapidrod or teak. I know i have no risk in this exposure. But the dr from the link i provided doen not agree that there is no risk for protected sex as long as uretha and foreskin is covered. I came to this forum and even pay for the subscription fees just to clear my confusion and anxiety that was not resolve in medhelp. Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY FOLLOWING PROTECTED INTERCOURSE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
