Woman massageing me
« on: February 02, 2008, 10:06:53 pm »
Yesterday a woman was massaging me(I know she is sexually active), and my question is in three parts:

1.) I think she had some cuts on her hands, not bleeing put pinkish... She was massaging my back and she touched a scab on my back, it may have been open, can HIV be transmitted that way? or even through regular pores in my skin?

2.)  She later gave me a handjob, and again, w/ her hands I suspect were cut(but no blood flowing, just pink), can HIV be transmitted given that there are pores in the skin of the penis or any way possible?

3.)  To clean my penis, she took baby wipes from a box, do you think any contamination from her other customers w/ the same box can transmitt the virus to me when she is cleaning me off?

thank you...

1. NO
2. NO
3. NO

Please take the time to read how HIV is transmitted. You can find the link in the "Welcome" thread.

skg,

As Rodney has told you, nothing you bring to us was a risk for hiv infection. Hiv is not transmitted through the skin. It is a very fragile virus that is transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse.

Along with reading the Transmission Lesson (linked to in the Welcome Thread), here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Ann,

I don't mean to be rude or anything, are you a healthcare professional to correctly assess the risks of what I was talking about?  I was assuming so, but I just want to make sure...  thanks...

Read our profiles to get information about us.

Are YOU a healthcare professional to be doubting what decades of personal experience grounded in HIV science supports the responses being given to you? I suspect not. It's about your fears --- feelings aren't facts. Feelings can be very strong and upsetting but they aren't facts. And the responses you get here are grounded in science and experience. That doesn't mean we are infallible. But we are very, very careful about what we say.

HIV is a fragile virus and not easily transmitted. Nothing you are concerned about in any way put you at risk for transmission. Period. End of story.
