Congratulations! I quit 3 months ago. It was allot easier then I thought. At the same time I starting to exercise an hour a day. My heart rate was over 80 3 mos ago. Now it's down to 60! blood presure has decreased to 118/80 from 160/130.... If you are determined and strong minded, ANYTHING is possible. Congratulations. AWESOME stuff!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, JUPITER!
I also quit 7 months ago and I can say that I definitely feel SO much better!
Thanks for that list of facts, Ray.
Peace,
Kelly

Congratulations! ;D I quit smoking about 15.5 years ago and haven't smoked once since quitting. To me, the secret to quitting isn't whether or not you use the patch, cold turkey, tapering down, etc. The secret is being determined to quit without the option to start back. Once this decision is made, the rest isn't so hard. It may seem a bit difficult at times, but remember, don't give yourself the option to smoke. It gets easy as time goes on.

I give you props for quitting man, I am doing the same myself. Yesterday was my first day, and on top of trying to deal with that my doc told me that I am going on meds. So the way I figger it, if I made it through that ordeal without smoking, then it's golden to go that I can make it this time!!

Congratulations!
and a tip that helped me quit for good 20 years ago after several short-lived attempts: consider yourself a non- smoker, not someone who is in the process of giving up.
Don't count the days. Smoking? It's just not you. When asked for a light don't say sorry I just quit, but sorry I don't smoke, I have no use for a lighter...
Seems ludicrous perhaps but it made the quitting very easy for me and I never looked back. Hope it helps you as well.

Pat,
I think you've got it right. I just never thought of it in so few words! I didn't give myself the option to smoke because I was a non-smoker. That is what got me through it (along with a couple other tricks).

Wow, congrats. I hear its remarkably difficult, and have great admiration for those who succeed (or even try).

Congrats!!!
That is wonderful news. It is the hardest thing I've ever tried to do. Take one day at a time and pat yourself on the back a lot.

That IS fabulous news, congratulations! I'm a little envious too, I must confess, since I've quit trying to quit. My trouble: I associate cigarettes with cocktails and with writing; it's almost as if it's hard-wired into my brain. My worry: some cute guy I'm kissing will stop and say, Sorry, your mouth is like an ashtray. Jay

jay, it's easy to quite smoking: just resituate your oral needs. If you come to toronto, I'll show you how.
