ok heres the deal...I found a laptop I think is sweet. There are no reviews on epinions but theres a list of places where I can get said laptop.
The place closest to me where I can get it in person if I like is JandR which sells it for 2150...pricey. However this is usually where I go for my electronic needs.
Then theres this place CompuVest that has the same exact laptop for only 1590....a 560 dollar difference.
What gives? Is it possible one is not an authorized retailer and I can get screwed with the warranty should I ever need it?
Or perhaps CompuVest is a smaller outfit across the country that doesnt heavily advertise and as such, selling costs and considerably lower thus giving peeps like me a chance to get a quality product at significantly lower prices.
Or is it a refurbished item and they are pulling a fast one on me?
Anyone have any thoughts? Or better yet share your experiences.
Thanks.

You'll have to ask them if it is refurbished. If I can save 500.00 bucks I would sure check it out.

What kind of warranty are they giving?

I've used J&R for over 20 years. They'll generally match/beat other prices. You might try that first; they are at least reputable. I'd also check on the warranty as was also mentioned. I've seen notebooks with as little as 90 days or warranty. Another thing is to check the reliability ratings. I know Consumer's Reports and PC World both have (or have in the past) reliability ratings of many brands.
