The sci-fi thread
« on: March 25, 2024, 06:30:25 am »
Star Trek (briefly)
we didn't discuss ST: Discovery (didn't watch it), Picard (watched it), Prodigy or Strange New Worlds (didn't watch them).

Personally I was surprised that Jim has watched so much trek. Females, nerds, and gay men are some of the highest demographics of ST watchers and you don't seem to fit any of those categories.  ;D Unless of course, Trek hooked you back when you were a part of the target audience and a young male in your teens and 20s. ;) Now that would explain it. Was it just the sexy female guest stars and/or the sci-fi that caught your attention?

Just for Fans
is that where I'm supposed to go post some dom content?  ;)  8)
Larry, go get my flogger and your kneepads.  :D

Acting like a mover shaker
Dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time

::) lol, so no, watching Star Trek doesn't make you gay.  Ive mentioned once or twice during calls things that do 😂. Anyhow, I just like the stories and it's better than most rubbish that was on the TV at the time. Keep in mind growing up watching Star Trek we only had three channels on TV, so it's was Star Trek, the news or some horrible quiz show.

I think we should have a Star Trek sub-forum. I’d immediately create a poll about which redhead was more kickass: Janeway or Crusher. Boy I would troll the responses 24/7.

On second thought, …. let’s not do that 😅

Janeway (you can tell she's a fellow dom/domme. LOL)

Additional polls:
Hottest character you wouldn't do: 7of9
Hottest character you'd do:            One

Because it was a terrible story, the characters were poorly written, and most were hysterical and needed a good slap, unfortunately, they didn't get one and to make matters worse the acting was even worse with prehaps one or two exceptions.

Hottest character you wouldn't do: Uhura
Hottest character you'd do: tie between Tom Paris, Malcolm Reed, or Julian Bashir…. Can’t I just have all three???

I’ll add in Ultimate Captain: Janeway
Best Engineering Officer: O’Brien

Ultimate Captain: Janeway (even though Picard is very close, she was feistier)
Best Engineering Officer: B'Elanna Torres (she was feisty like Janeway)
Fave Medical officer: The Doctor (not Who, but the EMH. he was feisty too)

bonus answers:
hottest doctor: Kelvin timeline Leonard McCoy (Karl Urban. hmm, he was feisty too complained to DeForest Kelly)
weirdest doctor: Dr. Janice Lester with her body swapping machine (definitely feistier than the other Trek 'transgender' representation by Dax)

There was a lot I didn't like about DS9, however, the majority of the characters were well-written and acted. I still want to buy the book "A Stitch in Time" written by Andrew Robinson.

Great call and loved catching up with everyone.

Topics discussed included: Social media and psychological effects, Animal welfare, TV Shows, Star Trek (briefly), Sexual fetishes & Only Fans, Mental health, and Old Age.

Maybe we should skip Star Trek on the next call. Just thinking out loud.

I'm a Star Trek slut.  I've seen them all!  Well I think I missed some animated.
ST is life.  There is a life lesson for everything in the ST universe.
I even had to warn a roommate's friends one night because not only did he help himself to my Momma's salsa that I was eating, he started banging on ST.  It did not go well for him that evening. LOL.  There was no violence but he realized there was a limit and had reached it.
I can relate pretty much anything to ST or cars.

Bubba hugs.

Bubba I’m laughing imagining you lose it over Star Trek and Salsa! Hey we all have triggers, and I guess your roomie discovered two of yours.

You mentioned the cartoon, and wow I totally forgot about the original series’ continuation. I have vague memories of watching it at my Grandparent’s house while I would stay over. At the time I thought it was too slow and boring to be a cartoon… but I was a kid so I expected all cartoons to be zany or goofy.

Technically, I didn't 'loose' it.  I simply walked into the kitchen, grabbed the chef knife out of the knife block and held it calmly as you would in between chopping vegetables and told him "You didn't know, you helped yourself to MY salsa even though I didn't offer it because I know you don't like spicy, AND you disrespect MY TV show which I did not invite you to watch because I know you don't like it.  You can go upstairs to see 'Bob' who came to see or you can leave."
I was calm and collected and made a point to never threaten him.  He did run upstairs and when he came downstairs with the roommate, the roomie was laughing telling him, they need to leave.

Yes.. I learned when I was younger, I may not be a genius but I was still above average when it came to my age.  The cartoon was S L O W and the graphics were.. well, you know.  Maybe that's why learned to lower my expectations on books to movies or 'adaptations' of things.

Glad I mad you laugh.  There is too little joy in today's world.

I watched and loved Alien Romulus. Today, on Max, the remake of Salem’s Lot premiered. That’s about it, you?
