Things fade.
You're not alone though. Time, distance, and growing older cause things to fade too. Decades ago who would have thought we'd be around so long for things to fade? I often wonder how many people who used to post here nearly a quarter of a century ago, no longer post because they're no longer among the living.

For me, WAD is not about any "hiv awareness" bs but it will always be about remembering those we lost.

I have AIDS Dementia Complex.

I am really sorry to hear this, hugs. I hope you are getting the support you need/want to live the best life you can with this condition.

Really nice post and worth repeating. I was so sick I was told to get my shit together, yet I am still here, and many sadly are not.

WAD for me is the same bit, also a time that I take extra time to remember that AIDS is not over; so many are still diagnosed late or too late and far too many are still dying a miserable death without access to any care for what should be a medically manageable condition.

AIDS is far from over, 2004/5 was globally the peak of HIV-related deaths, but it's still too high and those who get upset about the word AIDS are part of the snowflakery problem, as this distracts from focusing on the issue. Every time someone corrects me that's "Advanced HIV" nowadays, I have to remind myself not to slap the shit out of them.

that acronym is simply a cheerful coincidence  ;D

World AIDS Awareness and Deaths Remembrance Day (WAAADRD), although more accurate, would have been less comprehensible and a bit to blunt for the masses.
