Am I infected - Clarification would be greatly appreciated
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:19:37 am »
Hi,
I have 3 questions regarding some of the incidents I have encountered

1) I received Oral Sex from a prostitute with a Condom on. Is there any chance of me getting HIV or other STD's?

2) I have the habit of biting my lips and I could have potentially had a cut on my lip. This girl just kissed me on my lips for about 2 seconds. Assuming that my lips were bleeding, is there any chance of me getting HIV?

3) I had gone to a massage parlour recently. The girl bathed my penis, ass and gave massage. After that she gave me a handjob (happy ending). Is there any chance for me getting HIV or other STD's through this.

Answers to all three questions would be highly appreciated. Is there a need for me to get tested because of any of the incidents above. I have never indulged in any other sexual activity in my life.

un,

Getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection, with or without a condom. A blowjob with a condom is not a risk for other STIs.

Kissing is not a risk for hiv infection, bit lips or no bit lips. Kissing is not a risk for hiv infection, period.

Getting a massage, including having your genitals washed and a happy ending, are not risks for hiv or any other sexually transmitted infection.

Please read through the Welcome Thread and follow the links for further hiv transmission information.

Hiv is surprisingly easy to prevent. Here's how:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you do NOT need to test specifically over anything you have brought to us, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs. By sexually active, I mean having intercourse. If you're not having intercourse yet, you need to keep this information in mind for when you do.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Hi Ann. Thanks for the quick reply. You have mentioned that for my current situation, I do not need to get tested. Actually I am not sexually active, these are 2 incidents that have happened in my entire life and I do not plan to have intercourse till I get married.

With just these 2 incidents, is it still necessary for me to go and get tested. Also, if just go for massage in future do I need to get myself tested, if not HIV at least for other STI's. Please let me know.

Thanks

No, you don't need testing for anything over a massage.

That was a quick response....Thanks once again for the info. I just want to know one thing. Why is it that all the sites on the internet say that you can get HIV by BJ or Kissing..Also, I called the CDC sometime back and they told me that it is possible to get infected with BJ, HJ and Kissing. Why this discrepancy.

Also, do I have the risk of getting any other STI's because of HJ (other than HIV). Please let me know.

un,

Here at AIDSmeds you only get the real deal, based on the latest scientific research. Some other websites and organisations have a religious/moral agenda and don't want people to have sexual relations outside of a heterosexual marriage. We have no such agenda. These days, even the CDC seems to have a religious/moral agenda and if you need a reason why, just look at the current administration in the White House and their preference for abstinence only hiv prevention.

There is absolutely NO hiv risk in kissing or getting a blowjob or handjob. Saliva is NOT infectious. There is a very, very small risk in GIVING a blowjob, but all the latest research points to this being an extremely rare occurrence. If you read the Transmission lesson linked to in the Welcome thread, you would have seen the reference to these studies.

Hiv is a very fragile, difficult to transmit virus that needs specific conditions in order to be transmitted. These conditions are found during unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, which occurs INSIDE the body. Using condoms during intercourse prevents transmission from occurring.

An unprotected blowjob may expose you to one of the bacterial STIs, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea; this is fairly rare, but not unheard of. It may also expose you to herpes. These STIs are MUCH more easily transmitted than hiv and they are also much more prevalent.

As for handjobs, they are about the safest sexual activity. Unless the other person's cum is being used for lube and they have something like gonorrhea, there is not a risk. There is no risk of hiv infection through a handjob, regardless if cum is used as lube or not. As I said, successful hiv transmission happens INSIDE the body. Mutual masturbation is safe where hiv is concerned.

Use condoms for intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Un, some STDs can come about through skin to skin contact, (herpes for example), although from the activities which you have described I would consider it unlikely.

You can bother yourself if you choose to about the differences between what other sites say and what you are told here. All I can say is that we're giving you the straight deal. Some sites that say receiving oral is risky fail to mention there's never been a documented case of transmission in that manner. None.

Theoretically you're at risk anytime you have sex with anyone other than yourself. But in reality history has shown us that in terms of sexual activity the real risk is unprotected intercourse, both vaginal & anal. All of the other activities are only theoretically risky as far as HIV is concerned.

You may find that your plan to limit your sexual activities until marriage may change. If that happens, just make sure you use a condom everytime you have intercourse. And if you become more sexually active, then getting a full STD panel done regularly, (at least annually), is always a good idea, and more frequently should you experience any symptoms.

This time out I don't see any cause for concern.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

You have said that other STI's can happen through skin to skin contact. How about handjob. That is a skin to skin contact right. So is there a possiblity of other STI's through handjob, if not AIDS. Please let me know.

The answer would be NO. You don't get STDs from a handjob and you certainly don't get HIV.

Hi..I had gone for a massage recently. I had spicy food that day and before I went for massage I went to the rest room. I know the following is gross, but its the fact. I think I might have had some blood in my anus. During the massage, the lady was moving her finger near my anus. I am not sure if she had any cuts, but if she had come in contact with my blood, is there some chance for me to get HIV or OTHER STI's. Please let me know. I am pretty tensed.

NO.

Go read the answers you've already been given in this thread. They also apply in this situation. You didn't have a risk by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm telling it doesn't matter what he has stated in that article. You do not get HIV from receiving a blowjob and to give one a blowjob the chances are almost nil. In the article it does not quote anything to back up what he stated.

theun,

That so called doctor obviously hasn't actually read the serodiscordant studies, because in the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one. The only people who became infected during the course of the studies - and there have been several studies - were the couples who did not consistently use condoms for intercourse.

There are a lot of people out there who have a moral/religious agenda. They don't want you to have sex outside a traditional heterosexual marriage. We have no such agenda here - we only give you the scientific facts. The fact is, not one person has ever become infected through getting a blowjob and you won't be the first. Neither will that person who wrote in to the Times.

If you don't believe us, go test and collect your negative result. Simple as that.

hi.
I had gone to a strip club..I was taking a lap dance when the girl put her mouth on my dick. I was fully clothed and she did not take my organ out...She just touched it through my pant and kissed and licked it through my pant. Basically she was kissing my pant at the groin. Reading your forums I know I dont have a chance for HIV, but is there any chance for any other STD's as I was not wearing a condom and I didnt expect her to kiss me there. Please let me know even if there is a remote possibility of STD. I am sure I must have had some pre cum and her tongue touched my pant. Is there any way there would have been fluid contact through the cloth. Please let me know.

Thanks

Hi,
I was going through some of your other forums. I found the following "There is a slight possibility of herpes, gonorrhea, clamydia or syphilis through mutual masturbation". You have mentioned to me that handjob does not cause any STD and HIV. Can you please confirm once again if that is true. After reading that post, I am beginning to freak out.
Thanks

theun,

If you are engaging in mutual masturbation with someone, and that person has (for instance) gonorrhea, there is the possibility of becoming infected if you get some of their gonorrhea-infected fluids on the head and urethrea of your penis.

You have to understand that STIs like gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis are MUCH more infectious than hiv is. Hiv is very fragile and is NOT transmitted outside the body. Some of the others can be.

The ONLY sexual activity that is 100% safe is self-masturbation. Mutual masturbation is the safest thing you can do with another person. While STIs are a remote possiblity, they aren't overly likely. You will have to find your own comfort level on these issues.

Mutual masturbation is NOT a risk for hiv.

HI,
I had gone to a strip bar the other day. I was getting a regular lap dance when suddenly the girl went down, kissed me over "there" and started stroking me with her mouth over there...I had my pants on..Basically I had a boxer and a pant on. She was stroking it with her mouth from outside. I know I cannot get HIV. But this time she was kissing it licking it through my pants. Is there any way I can get other STI's through this. Please let me know. I am beginning to freak out. I didnt expect this and I couldnt tell her to take her mouth off...

Our focus here is on HIV-related issues.

Some other STDs can be acquired through skin-to-skin contact. If you have any troubling symptoms that is something to discuss with your doctor.

We also recommend that anyone who is sexually active ought to regularly have a full STD panel done at least once a year.

Nothing you have described is a risk for HIV transmission.

You're wondering if you can get an STD transmitted THROUGH your clothes?!

Um....no.

You've been joined to this site since last August, apparently.  I have a hard time believing you are as in the dark about STD's as all that.

THIS site, however, focuses on HIV / AIDS- hence, the title "AIDS Meds".  We have a Lessons section here that gives good information about how HIV is transmitted.  Being here 9 months, I imagine you have heard of it.  Give it a read & get in the know.  For the other STD's, you'll have to do a bit of research elsewhere.
AIDS isn't for sissies.

I havent logged in to this site for a year now. Things were going fine in life. Recently I went to a massage parlor and I had a massage and then got a HJ with Lubricant. After that I started getting some itch at the tip of my P. Recently I have started having some red coloration at the tip. I was afraid and have gone to a doctor. He told me that it could be a STD and has taken my blood for tests. I am waiting for the test results. Its a STD + Hiv test. Please let me know what I can expect. I have been in this forum before, but I am really tensed now.

the,

A red, itchy penis has NOTHING to do with hiv and you were never at risk for hiv when being masturbated. Whatever the outcome of your other STI tests, your hiv test will certainly be hiv negative, provided you've not been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse you're not telling us about.

You should know this stuff by now, you've been visiting this site for long enough.

Please don't use terms like "clean" to refer to your HIV status. It implies that HIV positive people are in some way "dirty". It's very offensive. I'm HIV positive and I would wager I'm "cleaner" than you.

Congratulations on your negative test result.

Hi. I was reading this in one of your other forums

"Sharing needles is a risk when an hiv positive person uses the needle and immediately passes it on to an hiv negative person for use. When a drug user injects drugs, they insert the needle into a vein, and pull back on the plunger to bring blood into the barrel of the syringe, so they know they definitely have a vein. When they see the blood, they can then inject the contents of the syringe."

As you can see from my previous post that I recently had a test in a clinic. I was wondering if they had any needles that had been used on other patients. If yes, what is the chance of transmission. Am I being too paranoid. Does the needle have to be used immediately or can the virus still survive inside the needle for days?

You're being paranoid. Unless you're a client at some hut-clinic in the badlands of the Sudan or the like, you don't have to worry about HIV contamination of injecting equipment in medical settings.

the,

If you're going to quote me, at least do me the courtesy of quoting all of what I said. I went on to say that transmission SOMETIMES happens when the syringe is passed IMMEDIATELY on to the next person. Does that sound like DAYS to you?

You're long over-due for a time out. If you insist on posting more about infection through testing, that's exactly what you'll get.

Guys. I had a new incident. I recently went to a massage parlor and had a shower and a massage. After the massage, the girl got naked and I was lying on my back. She was lying on my stomach wtih her butt close to my penis. I think the tip of my penis would have probably brushed against her vagina/anus. I did not insert, but there could have been bodily fluid contact. I also did some kissing on her lips and then she just licked my balls with her tongue and her tongue touched my shaft (not the tip) at which point I just stopped and she proceeded with just a handjob. I know that the handjob is no risk, but I have 2 questions
a) Because of contact between the fluid on the tip of my penis and maybe some fluid at the outside of her vagina, is there a possibility of HIV risk
b) With her tongue touching my shaft/balls, is there a potential for other STI's to get transmitted.
I am pretty much aware of what goes on in this forum, but my only concern is the contact of fluids (potentially). Please let me know if I was at risk.

So despite tip of penis touching the vagina and potentially some fluid there, there is no cause for concern? You wouldnt recommend testing over this incident?

No testing is necessary.

Have you bothered to read our lesson on transmission? If you had really read it you'd know the answer to what you're asking.

Hi. I had a new incident. I got a blowjob from a person of unknown status with a condom on. I also kissed her near the vagina (not on the vagina) and near the anus. I touched the outside of the vagina and there was some fluid. I also put my finger in anus (not fully, but about half an inch).  What is my risk of getting HIV. Do I have risk of acquiring it from these actions. Once the blowjob was done, the tip of the condom was moist. I dont know if that was her saliva or the condom tore.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

All of what I said to you on August 22nd still stands. Your latest non-risk  concerns seem to take no note of what I or anyone else has already been said to you.

the,

In response to your report, yes, Rodney is an authorised poster in this forum and as such, he is within his rights to remind you of our posting guidelines.

In response to your questions, getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection. Going down on a woman or kissing anywhere on the body is not a risk for hiv infection. Fingering is not a risk for hiv infection.

If you'd bothered to read the Transmission Lesson linked to in our Welcome Thread like you've been repeatedly asked to, you'd know this stuff. All of it, including the posting guidelines.

Keep posting over this no-risk stuff and you WILL be given a time out. That's a promise. We're not here to hold your hand everytime you have a sexual experience. Read the Lessons and learn it for yourself.
