Vaccine Research
« on: December 09, 2011, 02:10:34 pm »
Here is a local article about HIV vaccine research.   Article does state there is going to be some "very exciting" research published soon in the NE Journal of Medicine in the next few months.  We'll see just how exciting it is.  Interesting article nonetheless.

there are like more than 40 vaccines waiting for trials (most of them prophylactic)

You can see some of them  in the HIV vaccine pipeline landscape (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), the problem is that there is a huge gap (distance) when a new aproach is invented and this new "idea" get to clinical trial test.
1. In other words, most vaccines are not taking acount the latest discoveries because when the vaccine finally gets in clinical trial, this used to be new but at the moment of the clinical trial , your vaccine is old.

many researchers try to convince to the world that their research are good and use statistics to demonstrate their results with the idea of requesting money.

We have a good example of a good research directed by Dr. Kang (vaccine).  and they have spent the years and but it does not pass anything. Dr. Kang vaccine is ready since 2006 !!!!
Dr. Sudhir aproach is ready since 2008 !!

it is sad that vaccine of the Dr. Kang follows a process very slow.

the vaccine of the Dr. Kang is much by but promising therapeutic  as a prophylactic one.

CLINICAL TRIALS NEXT FOR HIV/AIDS VACCINE; KOREAN BIOTECH COMPANY MAKING IT HAPPEN

October 17, 2006

London,
ON. - An HIV/AIDS vaccine developed by Dr. Yong Kang, a virology professor
at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western
Ontario is being readied for clinical trial. Kang's vaccine could be
available for therapeutic use within three years and for use as a preventive
vaccine within the next six years.

"Dr. Kang has been issued one of only a few HIV vaccine patents in the world
and has developed one of a handful of technologies to make it this far in a
process where dozens of other potential vaccines from much larger
institutions have failed," says Ted Hewitt, Vice-President, Research and
International Relations, The University of Western Ontario

HIV vaccine research is rather disappointing: Bavarian Nordic has skipped its HIV Research because there no investors for its promising but expensive vaccine HIV Multiantigen. As far as I read, nearly all european vaccine projects are stopped because clinical trials are much too expensive and there is not enough public funding.

It' s simply a lack of money ( especially the monkeys are very expensive and not available)
