Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

There is no charge to read threads in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum, nor will there be a charge for participating in any of the other POZ forums. In addition, the POZ Basics "HIV Transmission and Risks" and "HIV Testing" basics, will remain accessible to all.

My former husband on the down low

I loved him and suspected that he might be bi, but asked him and he said no. I trusted him but when we divorced, I found pesonal papers that he had questions about his sexuallity.  Also, I think that he may have had a relationship with a man down the road.  He works in dialysis, so is tested every year for hepatiitis C and HIV, but I don't reallly trust him, because he denied being bi when we married and now don't communitcate., we were together for 6 years and I am to afraid of getting tested and am freaking out. Please help? Sorry about the spelling, my daughter is here and I have to type vey fast.  PS I am too stressed to get tested

Dodo,

The only way you're going to know your HIV status is to get tested. The window period for HIV testing is 13 weeks meaning you need to be tested 13 weeks from last time you had unprotected anal or vaginal sex with your ex-husband.

I know you say you're too stressed to be tested but there's no way around it. If you're concerned that you may have been exposed to HIV, testing is the only way to find out.

You might also wish to be tested for other sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia. These are much more common and easier to transmit than HIV.

Of course I totally agree with Matty's assessment of your situation. Whenever there is cause for serious doubt about one's HIV status, the only sure way to know is by getting tested at 13 weeks past the most recent unprotected incident.

Despite your concerns about your husband's history, you may very well be worrying needlessly but only the test result will tell you for sure.

Your second comment is confusing. Please clarify.
