Though the two scenes are not very long, they do make you wonder about Russell Crowe.. :D

His old (first?) movie "Proof" is also very homoerotic to me..

considering my tastes and peccadilloes i have several answers:
in mainstream/indie films i love the characters in Trick, Beautiful Thing, & more recently Shelter. none of the films show much sexual activity but that's fine by me. the chemistry (ugh...) between the characters is convincing.
in porn my faves are Jason Adonis & Zeb Atlas. their poor acting talents are compensated for in other ways.
my all-time favorite hetero-homo iis Brüno. i love Brüno because he pushes everyone's buttons -- the über-stereotypical sissy who is shallow, self-absorbed, vapid, & has no redeeming qualities is the most refreshing character i've seen since eddie monsoon and patsy stone appeared in 1992. Brüno is more than just a gay character, though -- Brüno swishes into arenas Borat could never sashay and achieves a even greater effect. the charity video during the closing credits is worth the price of admission alone.
i like The Sum of Us not only because Russell Crowe can kiss me any time but the father/son component is not part of many "gay" films.

Mm yummy. He's so masculine. That voice.
Well he's hot as a fag, and even if I should know better, he's hot as a fascist skinhead as well:

daniel day lewis my beautiful launderette.
That's a good one.
I'd also have to add Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mtn and a more obscure pick: John Hurt as the unforgettable Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant.

For your consideration, Steve Buscemi in Parting Glances.

Yeah the last two picks are great. Me so stupid, however, I though John Hurt was gay, but I just googled it and apparantly not.

In no particular order:
*Matt Damon in "The Talented Mr. Ripley"
*Harry Hamlin and Michael Ontkean in "Making Love"
*Paul Rudd in "The Object of My Affection"
*Javier Bardem playing the PWA Reinaldo Arenas in "Before Night Falls"
*Kevin Kline in "In & Out"
*Robert Preston and Alex Karras in "Victor/Victoria"
*Mario Lopez in "Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story"
*Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote"
*Terence Stamp and Guy Pearce in "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert"
*Justin Kirk, Patrick Wilson, Al Pacino, and Jeffrey Wright in "Angels in America"
*Ed Harris, playing the PWA Richard in "The Hours"
Although some may still dispute his sexual orientation, the best (and most sensational of all) such performances I've ever seen on Broadway was Richard Gere's, in "Bent," about the Nazis' incarceration of gays in concentration camps. He had one scene with his lover in the stone yard where, ten feet apart, they achieved orgasm simply by speaking to one another.

Actually, I should have better qualified it.. I meant to ask "Which straight actor has been in the best/most realistic gay LOVE/EROTIC scenes"... :D
Yeah, my head is filled with sex these days.. compensating for the lack of it in real life... ;D
I'd also have to add Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mtn and a more obscure pick...
That's a good one!
Just want to add also Gary Oldman in a few scenes in "Prick Up Your Ears".
