Arrival itineraries
« on: March 03, 2015, 02:39:09 am »
I thought I would start the, "I will be arriving . . . " thread, since I made my travel arrangements.

While I hate to break tradition, I will not be traveling by Amtrak this time. I just couldn't make the schedule work for me this year.

To that end, I will be flying. It is the first time since Mexico City.

I will post my arrival time and flight number and ask others to provide their method of transport and time for arrival. That way we can try to carry on for our Rocky and greet people as they arrive.

Aztecan (Mark) Arriving on Southwest Flight 999 at 11:30 a.m. July 30.

(You don't want to know what time the flight leaves Albuquerque, or when I have to leave Aztec to get to Albuquerque.)

Mini and Mom I hope you are going to be staying with us at the Holiday Inn.  I assume you have seen the hotel information in a separate thread here.  Mini always lights up our evening entertainments!

Gary, yes we will be staying @ Holiday Inn. Just trying to work out the exact days we'll be staying.

Wumpus, I only jumped it AFTER it took my money. It should be noted that I was wearing a skirt, didn't break a sweat (even when being chased by security), and arrived at breakfast with every hair still perfectly spiked.

Unfortunately, I will be attending Memphis without Sid  :(.  He was unable to make this work, but gave me his blessing to be gone on our 25th anniversary.  Of course, we DO have a second one in September -- that will be our 3rd wedding anniversary.

I arrive in Memphis on Thurs 7/30:
Delta 2180 - arrive 10:55 am

Leave on Mon 8/3
Delta 2441 - depart 9:45 am

Can't wait to see you all!

I arrive in Memphis on 07/30 at 3:39pm on Delta 2447, Airbus A319.

Depart on 08/03 at 9:45am on Delta 2441, Airbus A319.

Can someone tell me what the "Airbus" means?  Will there be some kind of bus taking me somewhere?

By the way, I am so excited to meet everyone!

Airbus is a European airplane manufacturer - like the US company, Boeing.  So, it's simply the type of plane you are on.

Hermie you were the first one from the forums I ever met, remember? in Toronto, we went for a walk while waiting for the others to arrive.

Remember how excited we got when we saw Joe and Stephen coming across the road.. :D.

I can't believe that was 10 years ago.

I am tickled to report that I will be arriving on the first day of AMG with Miss P . He is coming to visit me a few days before AMG and will drive to Memphis with me.

He has already done his research and submitted his restaurant list of places we have to eat while he is here. I am very much excited to finally meet him in person.

I'm looking forward to meeting Ms P also.  When I joined the forums,  he was one of the first persons to make me feel comfortable.

Guys (and Gals, you are included in "Guys" here) - I'm sorry to stick my nose into a conversation I don't understand, but what event are y'all talking about here? I have been locked up in prison for HIV-related "crime" (that hurt no one and could not have) since early 2006, and just got out April 21, 2015... and I saw someone on this thread mention a gathering of some kind that was in Toronto, then New Orleans, then Memphis... but few specifics about it. Can someone please show me a link with details? I'd love to attend an event, if it's in Memphis, which is about 2 1/2 hours away from me. My Parole Officer would have to give permission to travel out of state, and has been reluctant to grant passes because they think I'm some kind of predator or HIV-spreading threat (good grief!), but I think I could get such permission to travel for an HIV-related event. Especially if it's so close.

Again, sorry to butt-in, but I can't grasp most of y'alls shorthand in the exchange here. Hard to believe that you all had a meeting that started about the time I was taken from the world, but I think it's a great idea.

This site used to be called Aidsmeds so AMG stands for aids med gathering. We all select a city and time every year and this time its Memphis . You can find the information here and make hotel reservations as well . http://forums.poz.com/index.php?board=12.0

Thanks, Jeff. As I read further down into this forum, I've managed to piece most of it together, including the date, listed on a single post about 10 down the list. That should be the title of the ones in pink at the top of the list... July 30-Aug 4 MEMPHIS. Seriously, someone should change that at the top to make it easier to find instead of having to pick it out from among the various chat threads further down!

I'm getting excited just thinking about such a thing. I've had this disease 20 years, this year, and have been locked up for 9 of those years, and have barely ever known anyone else with this disease. I've been to support groups before, years ago, but they were in my small towns, and consisted of very sick very much older pozitoids, and I didn't relate very well at the time.

I'm sure the two of you will hit it off from the git-go. Just be careful about using words like git-go. jk.

Hope you guys have a fun adventure. Can't wait to see you both again.

In case I didn't mention it, I'm SO EXCITED about the meeting being close enough to me this year that I can attend. I've always wanted to go to one of these. I barely know any pozitoids in the real world. And unfortunately, y'all started having this particular event only one year before I got locked up and missed the next nine. :(

Can't wait to see you guys. I feel so alone and isolated right now; everyone I knew before in "real life" has moved on, moved away, etc. Came out on parole to a state I cannot leave without permission (which they are very reluctant to give), where I know no one, and in a very small and religious town that makes me feel even more isolated. My fiancee and son are 6 hours away. So this is a real beacon of hope, to me. I just hope I can arrange my work schedule to be there as many days as possible, maybe invest in one of those hotel rooms so I don't have to shuttle back and forth, if I can get the time off. But I want to say, thank you for doing this event. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Richie, we've learned over the years that cats can't be easily hearded, but we will always welcome those who try. And that is exactly why we need rocket surgeons like you! We need a little spark to liven things up when the South gets a little sultry. I know I speak for me, Santiago and the ladies we'll be chaperoning when I say we will be pleased to meet you!

Best,
Creighton
