Latest numbers - one step forward, two back!
« on: August 13, 2007, 12:49:14 pm »
I went for my latest blood results today hoping that my very good health in recent months would be reflected in the numbers, but as I should have learnt by now it's never that simple.

Annoyingly my t-cells have dropped back this time from 210 to 176 which is pretty much where they were in April, although the % has increased from 12 to 16%.

Viral load went from 16,804 to 22,194 so no significant change there.

Momentarily I was disappointed and frustrated by the t-cells going back under 200 but, what the hell, it's only a number, I still feel absolutely fine so that's what I have to keep my focus on. I guess it just means I will have to pay a little more attention to my body/health and make sure that I don't ignore any signs of problems if/when they occur.

My doctor continues to tell me I should be back on treatment but I'm not going down that road again for the foreseeable future. He wants to repeat the bloods again in 6 weeks so I'll be doing that on the day I fly back from San Francisco - hopefully the energy from AMG will boost my numbers!

Diagnosed 11th September 1991
Current CD4 count 484 (26%); viral load undetectable (December 2011).

Hey Emma,

I know the dip was disappointing, but over all your numbers really haven't changed all that much. Do keep a watchful eye on your health, which I know you do.

Looking forward to finally meeting you in SF!!

hi emma.

It's not like it's a precipitious drop.  Just a little dip.  What's more telling is the %.  It went up, so that's good.  What's most important, though, is how you feel and I can tell by that infectious smile you're not doing too bad~~~

Hey Emma!

Those numbers aren't that bad babe. From what I can tell there's really been no change. Have a faboo time at AMG!

Hey Emma,

I had noticed a post not long ago where you mentioned being nervous about getting your results back, so I went searching and here I am. LOL I was looking because I just had my blood work done today (8/16), and was going to commisserate with you; but I see that you have already gotten results back.

I agree with MtD, your numbers haven't really changed that much at all. So that's good! :D I'll still try to send you some happy vibes so those tcells go up a bit more on your next test. ;)

I'll get my results back on 8/30. I'm hoping they'll be ok; but I just over-taxed myself on a trip home to NC (my Nana just turned 90, and the nieces and nephews all grew 4 inches in the last 2 yrs! I'll send you my blog update as soon as I get all my pix together. ;) ) and of all days to puke up my morning meds and feel like crap, this was the day. LOL So, personally I'm expecting a little change (for the worse) in my counts; but, like yours, by not too much. -fingers crossed-

If you remember my last results took me from just over 300 (an whole extra 11 pts) for the first time in a decade, back down to 264. I figured since I'm managed to stay alive and kicking with under 300 all that time, it really isn't any different now. At least choking down these meds (and trying not to barf them back up) has had the benefit of keeping my VL in check for 3 yrs now. With your attitude, I'm sure your count of nearly 200 will do you just fine. ;)

So you're coming to the States? WooHoo! Have a great time! If you fly over Ohio, remember to wave. Jim and I aren't too far from the airport so we'll be looking for you. LOL

Best wishes and have a great trip!
