am i at risk?
« on: July 11, 2010, 08:32:25 am »
Hi,

Could you please tell me my risk from a sexual encounter I was engaged in with a high risk sexworker. I name her highrisk because she doesn't use consitentlycondoms for vaginal or anal intercourse.
Please tell me my risk and if I have to do a test after this experience.

1) I licked or even sucked her breast. I don't know if I had some fluid in my mouth except for my own saliva.

2) She was naked and I weared my (thin) slip. She sat herself with her naked vagina on my penis just covered by my slip.

3) Hand - to-genital transmission possibkle? She touched and rubbed my penis with some fresh and visible vaginal fluid on her hand.  This after I ejaculated. I heard that sperm can boost hiv. So was I at risk her because of her fluid touching my penis with rubbing? I doubt hiv becomes inactive immediately outside the body or?

4) When can dermatologic manifestation of hiv appear first? Is that already possible after a three or four months time? Because now I suffer under the itchy bump disease, which affects commonly hiv patients as I read. But is it not too soon for that?

I would be glad if you could answer me my questions and tell me the risk for this three situations

You never had a risk of contracting HIV in any of the situations you've provided.

liam,

1. Breast milk is only a threat to tiny babies who entirely depend on breast milk for their sustenance. Sucking breasts is not a risk for an adult.

2. Hiv is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where hiv never leaves the confines of the two bodies. Hiv is NOT transmitted through clothing.

3. Hiv is not transmitted through mutual masturbation, regardless of whether or not there are vaginal fluids present and regardless of the presence of semen.

4. Whatever is causing your bumps, it is NOT hiv. You have not had a risk for hiv infection. See your doctor about your bumps. We cannot help you with that here.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

Here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER ANY ACTIVITIES YOU DESCRIBE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi Ann and Andy,

Yesterday I was taking a streethooker for protected oral because I know this is safe. But the woman took the condom in her mouth and then put it on the penis and I got a blowjob. I now fear that not only saliva was on the condom but perhaps blood too if she was bleeding in the mouth or on the lips. Risky?
Another thing is that I touched her vagina or anus briefly and used this finger half a minute later when a took a papertowel to clean up my sperm. What do you think? Do I need to get tested over this?

Thanks a lot?

Liam,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

And another thing, I see you've been posting in the Research forum. You're not allowed to as you're not hiv positive. Please don't post there again.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

You could have gotten an UNprotected blowjob and you still wouldn't have been at risk. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Blood in the mouth? Unless you're in the habit of repeatedly punching a person in the mouth before they blow you, there could not possibly be enough blood present to be concerned about.

Fingering isn't a risk so just touching someone's vagina or anus is not a risk either, even if you touch your penis after. We've gone over this with you before, so please re-read your entire thread.

Thanks for your answer. I will follow the guidelines better next times and say sorry for not having done that already.
It was the famous drop of blood on the inside of the condom I feared.

Liam,

You're worrying about "a famous drop of blood" needlessly. Not one person has ever been infected through getting a blowjob and you certainly aren't going to be the first.

Thanks for your answers Ann. Yes I know that oral in general doesn't transmit Hiv, because saliva inhibits Hiv even if there is a bit of blood int he mouth. But my case is unfortunately particular. If some blood from the lips came to the inner side of the condom, then it was put on the glans of the penis and there was no more possibility of saliva getting on to that blood. Then the blowjob could make the virus in this blood come through my urethra or inner skin of the penis, i am not circumsized.
Now six days after this encounter I developped symptoms that could be in relation to an acute hiv-infection. On the innerside of my underarm and on my chest I developped a macupapular patch (up to now 2 discovered).
Very shocking and terrifying is another thing: on my palate I have a red  spot (macula/patch). It doesn't hurt or itch and I never had this before. Very like this here: http://www.dermis.net/bilder/CD033/550px/img0025.jpg
Now I can't seep anymore, i am very upset, nervous and fear having an hiv-test becuse of this signs.
Please tell me what you think of it? Please tell me the truth, even if it means being infected.

You may have high anxiety but you have had no risk for HIV transmission. It really doesn't matter what details you continue to throw into the mix. Receiving a blowjob is simply not a risk for HIV transmission. It's one of the most common of sexual activities and if it were a genuine risk we would have known that long before today. You are not going to make history by becoming infected in that manner.

As to your symptoms, there is nothing in anyway HIV specific about any of them. You need to discuss them with your doctor. Unfortunately now that you are worried, albeit unnecesarrily, you are misinterpreting everything that happens to you as ANOTHER SIGN of HIV. 'taint so. You weren't at risk and of course I fully expect you to test negative.

You also need to be aware that since you didn't have a risk, you cannot continue to come back here repeatedly while insisting you had a risk. You're going to get tested. OK. Good. It's strictly for your peace of mind and a negative result is a certainty. There's really nothing more we can tell you. While waiting to test you need to get busy with other things in your life. Don't bother saying you are too worried to do that because that response won't fly here. Just do it and it will make your waiting much, much easier.
