I think it's time, to see my Shrink again
« on: November 23, 2011, 11:38:11 am »
I have not been doing to well in the mental health dept. as of late, this has been going on for a long time, and I didn't really notice any of it until my otherhalf Bob brought it my attention, he says , that when he's in the other room of the house, he says, I talk to myself, laugh, and have complete conversation w/ myself
he will come out and just look @ me, and ask me if I'm ok, and I just play it off and say "oh yeah I'm good, I'm just thinking out loud" and he says that is NOT thinking out loud..

He has also noticed that I forget a lotta things around the house, like having something on the stove, and running the water in the sink, till it boils over and spills into the floor, I told him that he really needs to help me around the house more, but, he's limited and has mobility problems ( I'm actually his caregiver and have been for the last 10 yrs. since his Heart Attack he's also life partner of 18 yrs. were both disabled)..I told him that I simply cannot do EVERYTHING, and you need to get up off your ass and start helping me around the house....

but he really cannot do much, so now I feel guilty for telling him that, and it really hurts me to see him try & do things, with heavy lifting, I always tell him DON'T DO THAT, you have a bad back.....I feel like I'm stuck in a delima, I mean, I'm sick too, and I do have my own health problems and YES Mental health problems as well, it's part of my SSDI disability , don't get my wrong Bob is a wonderful man that I dearly love & respect  :-*

but I cannot help feel like I'm so consumed, it's like I',m drowning in a lotta of water that I cannot seem to get out of, I know it's time to see my shrink again, it's been a while when the walls start to close in on me, and the PANIC sets in........suggestions anyone?

are y'all eligible for any services? Here in SC for example, beacuse of my disability status I am enrolled in the SC state "Community Long Term Care" program. if I needed cooking or cleaning help, these are services I could receive. Is there anything like that in your state? Are there are services like that from an ASO, or volunteer group, or even "buddy system"?

along with mental health help, you might ought to look for outside help for your daily/weekly routines. It sounds like some help around the house could help you out with your frustrations and mental issues too.

:-* hope you can get some help to work out these issues.

@ MIkie, yeah we have those services here in New Mexico, but unfortunately none of us qualify for any of them due to our income levels, we don't even qualify for State Medicaid, as for my ASO, they are so overwhelmed  w/ so many clients, that the last time I spoke w/ mine, I had to go there and hunt him down
he used to call me every month, to see how things were going w/ me, but, he really doesn't have the time to do it anymore, we live in the 32nd largest City in the US, so we have about a million and 1/2 people here in ABQ alone, so, most services are spread kinda thin.....

It's definitely probably a very good idea, Dennis, to have yourself re-evaluated by a psychiatrist if it's been a long time. The situation you just described sounds potentially dangerous. Keep us posted and good luck.

I'll assume you still drive a car every day and you've managed not to have accidents and/or accumulate tickets from running red lights? That should be a good sign.

While I still think it's a good idea to go to a mental health professional, with your good driving record in mind it's possible your being overly cautious with the issue. Better safe than sorry though, right?

as long as I can hold on , bob's nervous, and has been helping me clean all morning, maybe that's a good sign

I, too, am glad to hear things are better.  I remember talking to this woman years ago who was sick herself, but also had to take care of her husband--as well as being a mother.  She said her stress/exhaustion manifested into things you described.

Take care, and you're a great partner to your hubby!
