Triumeq - Anything to watch out for?
« on: September 20, 2018, 06:47:42 am »
ID doc is changing me to Triumeq from Genvoya.

Anything to watch out for with Triumeq for the first few weeks?

Bit nervous about changing. Doc thinks the Genvoya with Septrin is hard on my Liver re the high Liver Test results I have.

Expect no issues, perhaps some wild dreams is pretty common. If this is bothersome take it in the AM and give yourself time to settle in.

What did your ID Doctor BTW say, when you asked them what issues to expect ?

I see in the other thread you have not spoken to the doctor yet, so my advice would be, expect no lasting issues and,  ask the doctor this question when you go in to switch.

When I go to the hospital they had another change of plan...
Now it's 2 separate pills Tivicay and Descovy. Also I was told to stop taking the Septrin. I had to give more blood which they will test and see can I take a different antibiotic to replace the Septrin.

Only got to see the Pharmacist who works in ID clinic, did not see doc. When I asked Pharmacist about any possible side effects, she listed me the usual list of potentials which most medicine inserts warn off.

So it's Tivicay and Descovy starting tomorrow morning. Anything to watch for on this combo?

The advantage is it can be taken with or without food.

It's going to be at least a week or so before I get a replacement antibiotic, seems they are not too worried about me being off this for a few days.

The Tivicay,  is Dolutegravir and its also part of Triumeq.
The Descovy is the upgraded version of Truvada

Again expect no issues, perhaps some wild dreams at first is pretty common anecdotally. If this is bothersome than take it in the AM and give yourself time to settle in.

Good stuff, thank you v much Jim. Yes, I was taking the meds in the morning anyway, so will continue to do so. Easier for routine.
