Hello everyone, I'm new here in this forum, my situation is this:

9 days ago I gave a taxi driver oral sex, but only for a few minutes, he didn't had the time to eyaculate because there was a police car around the area so I didn't want to finish, I just gave him oral sex and I saw the pre-cum, after that I came to my house and checked my mouth and I didn't see any brouse, I knew that the taxi driver aparently pay for receive oral sex and have sex with other men so I'm scared, obviously I don't get the ELISA test because it's only been 9 days but I wanted to share this with you and see what you think, For now I don't have any kind of sympton that I know of but I don't know I'm worried and tired of waiting for the right time to have the test

Armando, you are worrying needlessly. Your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it is present.

There is no need for testing nor for further concern on your part.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you properly use condoms everytime for those activities you will be well protected.

But the risk is always there, I mean theorically I can get the disease by oral sex right?  That's what I have known, I'd like to have the test, I don't have regular sex, this time was my first in a long time so I'm very scared, in how much time you think I could get tested?

If you need to test strictly for your peace of mind, a negative at 3 months is conclusive. Do it if you want to, but it's really not necessary.

Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV. So if you are sexually active you should have a full STD panel done every year.

Yes I honestly want to do it for my peace of mind, I can't stop thinking about it and I'm not even eating so much because I'm preoccupied and don't know what to think, Andy your words make feel a little bit more relaxed I imagine you have plenty of experience in this area but still we never know what the future holds, I read about a 4th generation test that allows me to know if I'm infected or not in 15 days, is that true?

No it isn't true and you have no reason to test.

You need to chill out. Really. Whatever the generation of test being used, in order to receive a conclusive negative result you need to test at 3 months.

Remember, you have not had a risk so testing is strictly for your peace of mind. You can just as well let this unwarranted concern go and just get on with your life. It's up to you.

You do realize that we have yet to quantify a single documented instance of transmission through oral sex of any kind on not one, not two, but three long term studies of serodiscordant couples, right? I mean, we quote the study all the time.

There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

That's what JK means.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER ORAL SEX, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Well thank you all guys for your words it makes me feel a little more relaxed although I admit that I cannot stop thinking about it! its been 2 weeks now and well Now I have some kind of flu symptoms But I think it was because I was cleaning my room yesterday and I inhale a lot of dust and well Let's think it is from that I have my hopes and well I'll wait this 3 months and get tested! for now I'll try to think positive

Soy un chico gay y tengo una duda. Estaba teniendo un encuentro casual con un chico y mientras estábamos en el juego previo a tener sexo utilizó su líquido preseminal para frotar su pene entre mis glúteos y en una de esas estaba usando su mano para sobar mi zona rectal e introdujo su dedo un poco con el mismo líquido preseminal,y luego se puso el condon aplicó lubricante y me penetro,,  me preocupa un poco porque unos 20 minutos antes me hice limpieza anal y pues a veces tiendo a quedar sensible y sangro un poco, entonces no se si eso puede ser riesgoso. Alguien podría orientarme?

No, frotando con los dedos o el mano con el liquido seminal no es un riesgo.

Sexualmente solamente la copula anal (y vaginal) sin usando un condon es un riesgo confirmado por el VIH.

No tiene que probar porque no tenia un riesgo.  delante con tu vida normal.

Estoy muy  preocupado ya que tuve sexo casual con un hombre con quien utilice condon aunque le hice sexo oral sin protección. Al terminar me entero que es VIH Positivo y estoy muy preocupado. Por suerte el condon lo había botado en el cesto de basura y no en el sanitario y lo revisé, lo llene de agua y no tiene fugas, por lo cual no debería haber motivo de contagio, pero estoy muy preocupado, debería optar por tratamiento PEP?

Cualquieer los detalles recibiendo el sexo oral no es un riesgo por el VIH.

La protecion del condon es muy efectivo contra el VIH durante la copula.

No creo que tiene que probar excepto si decide hacerlo solamente por tu paz mental.

Buen día,

El 21 de noviembre tuve sexo sin protección con una persona que no conocía, estaba algo tomado y pues pasó. La persona dice ser negativo, pero he empezado a tener una fiebre inexplicable, dolores de cabeza, escalofríos nocturnos y pesadez detrás del cuello. Me hice exámenes de sangre de todo tipo y el de Vih me lo he repetido varías veces, el último examen me lo hice el 18 de diciembre, la prueba rápida y la de Elisa siendo ambas negativas pero aún no se la causa de mis síntomas, es posible que esté atravesando por los sintomas de seroconversion y por eso aún el VIH no se refleja en los exámenes?

Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV otherwise you would have tested reactive already. See a doctor and treat whatever is making you sick.

As for your risk assessment, well as you engaged in unprotected intercourse, test for HIV at 6 weeks and 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result with an approved antibodies test. Also test for far easier to transmit STI's whilst you are at it!

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.
