Puerto Rico?
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:00:35 pm »
OK , Time is here. I'm off next week. There seems to be very little sunshine down south these days. Seems to be in the 80's in PR, and since my passport expired in 2003, I should stay close. I NEED SOME SUN!!

Who's been, where do I stay ( gay ), is it ok for a single traveler?

I checked airfare, and some hotel called the Atlantic Beach Hotel is only $150/night!

Of course Catman's not around right now~

HOW WONDERFUL!! Take lots and lots of pictures, especially if there are lots of naked puertorican men. That's so exciting! You're going to have a great time!

Thanks for the links guy~

Interestingly gayplaces2stay didn't list the Atlantic Beach hotel? According to the others where it popped up, it's right at Condado Beach (gay area) and is the only bar to have a gay Sunday tea-dance and male stripper, Sundays at 6!! How can I go wrong? lol

Lived there for 3 years a hundred years ago when I was a kid - had a great time - was always at the beach or in the pool...Even then I could recoginize what a beautiful place it was - hope it is still.

Have a great time!

Since Puerto Rico is a US territory - ya don't need a pssport.

From the State Department site:

The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory.  U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the United States and do not need to present a passport.  U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Thanks, yeah I checked on the passport thing. Also, my expired one was issued less than 15 years ago, so I'm able to mail in to renew, which I'll do just in case some man comes along to whisk me away to some foreign land................

Ok enough dreaming.

Thanks Javier, I got your PM. Good info ;)

I stayed on an American marina (island ) off of some place called Fajardo for a month, summer after High School. Was a beautiful place ( the island, not Fajardo-), but we only went into San Juan one night.

I'm here as a representative of my island and just sent you some emails about some places. I am definitely going to meet you so I will be on my way to San Juan on Saturday night to pick you up! ;) This should be very interesting...I'll be your personal guide that night. And check out this club site, I really use to dance my ass off here. It still is one of the best besides "Starz", and the new "Medusa". KRASH will always be KRASH even though many call it "Eros"...

I went there once and stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel.  It's a beautiful place and I had a great time.

This was quite a few years ago though.   I bottomed out with an endangered species:  A Pan Am flight attendant.

well the only place where you will find it will be in San Juan,

Well, not really. It's just that San Juan is the capital and has the reputation that it "has it all". All cities have that rap. I live about 90+ miles from the capital on the West coast. That's where Christopher Columbus is said to have anchored and discovered the island. It is located on the west coast. This area (west) has the best beaches on the island. You get the most of Puerto Rico if you rent a car, grab a good map and dare yourself to go out to the country. I'd advise to stay on the coastal towns because driving in the center of the island is very tricky and even I still get lost. On the south side there is the city of Ponce which I love. Beautiful art deco buildings, Spanish style constructions and antique houses which are well conserved. It also has it's share of gay night life but at a smaller scale than the capital. There was a newspaper that was free at gay businesses called "Breeze" that showcased these places but I don't know if it is still in circulation. I don't have the night life that I used too and besides my gay generation is mostly dead due to aids. It is good to know a few locals who are up to date on these places. The west coast city of Mayaguez also has it's small gay clubs and one of them is called "Twister". I'll have to meet a few gays at work and ask them if there are any other places. I really don't have gay friends in Puerto Rico. All of them come to the island for vacations and thats when I try to get some time out of work. Most are living in Florida. Anyways, my small town has a little bar close to the beach called "Johnny's". You meet the gay country guys here (and lesbians) and that is just fine with me. It's all very casual and nobody has false pretenses. They play music, have a wide screen which shows concerts or whatever, and they have a couple of pool tables. There are hidden places in many towns but they are not well known to the general public. You have to live there to know them. All very discreet in the country...still when traveling and renting a car, get out of the city at least during one of your vacation stays and head to the west coast. There's plenty of hotels and Country Inns to stay at and enjoy the nature of it all. Besides there's a great airport in the town of Aguadilla so you don't need to get to the capital. The closest anybody can get to a naked puertorican is either seeing him dance as a stripper in some gay club or dating someone who is willing to go to bed at a short notice. There is no exclusive naked man dancing club for gays. Those are in Canada and other "liberated" countries. This island is still traditional in many ways and homosexuality is only beginning to be a little tolerated. It's in no way Cuba ,though. I posted a link above to a club but you can check out Halloween night. We close a main street and it is a great celebration. Tourists flock the streets just to see the Gay Halloween Celebration. This is the street that has like 3 clubs and all get packed. But the street has it's own stage and a musical show. I just want to warn the horny guys only looking for some action that there is a high incidence of aids here so be sure to play it safe and wear a condom. Lots of gay for pay but these guys may be into drugs and might even assault you once your pants are down. Be very careful when seeking sexual experience. There are plenty of single guys, though. Couples are a rare species so treasure one if you meet one. Who knows, you might even end up in bed with us. (Ha, joking!)
I have no idea who this "torch" was but it was my favorite costum of that night.

You were lucky, Paul on being able to book everything on such a short notice. Usually even hotels are all booked during winter season elsewhere. We are in high season, still. Call me if you need anything. The sun is hot and awaiting your body to toast! Buy suntan lotion. :)

I went there once and stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel.  It's a beautiful place and I had a great time.

I got called to the front desk by the local police department because a well-known ex-con hustler had just left my room with a pair of locked hand-cuffs on (I'd wrapped a towel around it so nobody would see)... I was on my way to the airport and we'd lost the key!  heee heee... WHAT A STORY

The sad thing is that the entire hotel patrons, half of whom I'd fucked, saw this all from happy hour at the bar.  It's one of those tales all of my friends insist on bringing up at dinner parties for the last decasde... so scadalous.  He was SOOOOOOOOOOO hot though... Puerto Rican/Italian and covered in tattoos, and had been in prison three times or so.  Yes... I like rough trade -- kills me.

Trust!  I AM AN EXPERT at locating cocks in Puerto Rico... I've NEVER failed... and in fact can score several in one night.  The boys eat me alive.  I've had so many scandals on that island it's beyone belieft.  And we won't even touch my many escapades in the Dominican Republic... even more scandalous.  Last time I went I had to say a prayer to Jesus that I'd never, ever return.

I only went a few times.  But the one time I went was with this black guy with a 10 inch cock that was staying in my hotel with his boyfriend... needless to say I homewrecked THAT arrangement.  We gave a public show up in the mezzanine and all the locals GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGED... and I even dropped my bottle of Jungle Juice through the wood slats and it hit some queen on the head.  Hours later I heard a private cabin door open and some guy in bad English said "Excuse me, excuse me... did you lose this bottle?  Would you like to some in to my room!???"

HA HA... and no I didn't go in.

No need for Steamworks anyway.  It's all about picking guys up at Eros and taking them out to the rental car and giving them blow jobs.  Mind you, this can go on all night with multiple boys.

Once I even ended up in some guys house with his sleeping wife and children upstairs -- MESSY

We met and had a great time drinking and sightseeing. Paul is still on the island taking his long awaited suntan. I had to go back to my town because of work. I'll take care of him via cel phone but might go to San Juan again on Wednesday for one more night of sharing. Great sexy guy and wonderful to be with. Tall as a lampost! Was his personal tour guide and shot plenty of pics of him but it's up to him to decide if he's going to post any. I do have them, though.

As of Feb. 13th, I have learned from other guys at the gay beach bar of the Atlantic Beach Hotel that "Steamworks" is oficially closed. R.I.P. But there ARE naked guys at a new tacky bar named "Junior's" close to Eros. The strippers dance on stage first then they go around lap-dancing, so get your dollar bills ready! Especially on Mondays, it's hardcore night...

Oh.... and I get who you were talking about from the other thread.  Whatever.

As far as the gay scene in PR though I have to beg to differ with some points.  I got laid more in San Juan than ANY other city I've ever travelled to, which is why I returned every year.  I swear one weekend I must have scored about 8 guys within 48 hours (we were having a contest... I won).  It was almost too easy.

Hasn't Junior's been there for a decade?  There was always one place with dancers.  And then there was that one place with a back room kind of like 3 blocks from Atlantic Beach hotel, and then another block down was this wicked after-hours cocaine den that we'd go to -- oh the scandals!  I'd play pool with all the hustlers and once two of them got in a fist fight outside the club OVER ME... ha ha... what a hoot.  That had never happened before.  Then I dragged one of the guys to Eros and we sandwich danced all night with this tranny, who then years later showed up at a club in Manhattan and totally remembered me.  I forget her name off hand but she was quite the big deal in San Juan in the 90's.

Oh... and do you remember Barbara Herr?  She was too fierce... always hosted events.  And I'll never forget the year that there was a semi-convention of gay members of the NY Police Dept. meeting in SJ the same week I was there.  That was sexually fulfilling :)

And on a side note I bought some Yauco Selecto Estate Coffee while in NYC last week, one of the best produced in Puerto Rico.

And I agree with Ponce.  Delightful city, and there's an easy drive to the dry forest a hour or so west of there at Guanica which is REALLY worth going to.  I loved it, and there's a great little beach there with very few people.  I found Mayaguez a bit of a dump, but up north of there is one of the very best hotels on the island though they -- aren't you in Aguada?  I can't recall the name off the top of my head.  It's not a chain hotel, it's privately owned and often mentioned in stuff like Conde Naste Traveller.  Though I had it bookmarked...  oh right here it is:

http://www.horneddorset.com/home.html

It has to be right down the road from you... dying to stay there but it's so pricey.

I still swear by Vieques though.  Best beaches in PR.

You're talking about the good 'ol days when gay nightlife was at its best. As a matter of  fact, Paul and I met at the beach bar an old gay guy who has been coming to P.R. for the past 40 years! Even he said that those were the best gay days of his life. We even talked about all of those sex related places that you mentioned. During the 80's all the clubs were moving well and "Bachelor's" was the best dance club in the Carribean. People would come from many parts of the world just to dance to the conga beats. Star's and Bachelor's were the best clubs of San Juan. Neither exist anymore.
That pricey hotel  is in the town of Rincon (next to my town). A beautiful hotel appealing to European tourist's and the rich crowd. Many French tourist's go there and you have to speak this language if you want to work as a waiter. It has no phones, no TVs, no radio's permitted, and no kids are allowed. Only the sound of the wind and waves is what you will hear here. A great romantic place for couples.
The drag queens in that decade WERE Fierce! Many made a living out of it in other countries, also. Wow! You really made me remember those days...too bad they are long gone. But we can always have fun else where...I don't go to these clubs in San Juan frequently because they are far from me, but when I do go, I have a ball like the one I just had with Paul! San Juan is always fun and exciting!

I'm glad I was traipsing yearly down to PR when it was fun.  I think I've stated previously to you that the last time I was there was in 1999.  Once I had a serious partner around that time for a few years my Caribbean jaunts were out of the question, and after the intense break up I never picked the habit up again.

I'd still go back at some point, hopefully with a new husband and we'll stay at that hotel in Rincon! :)  I stayed at an equally nice place in Vieques called Inn on the Blue Horizon back in '97.

Oh, and I *LOVE* the "no kids" policy.

OK, I'm home now, and freezing! I nearly died of frostbite getting to my car at JFK airport last nite! I stayed an extra night because I didn't want to come back in the horrible weather NY was having Thursday!!

Catman is a sweetie!! He and his BF picked me up at the airport and took me out to the local bars Sat night, and we got in late! Catman took me to Old San Juan on Sunday and we had a beautiful day touring the city~

Once they left me at the hotel Sunday night at 8pm, I needed a nap , desperately. Unfortunately I never made it down to the hotel bar's best nite as I slept thru til 7 am!! Catman wore me out~~  ;D

I had a great trip. I met some great people, and hope to go back same time each year like they do. The Atlantic Beach hotel rooms leave ALOT to be desired, but their location cannot be beat!

I didn't want to leave. I'm definitely staying longer next time. I love casinos, and there were plenty to choose from!  I think I broke even!!  Next time I'm going to side trip to see the side of the island where Catman lives!

Everything is right there, I didn't need to get a car. Great gym down the street from the hotel (only went once, of course, but OMG the guys in there were HOT!). The trip did make me remember I have to get in some serious gym time again.

I even finished a book while tanning on the beach!

Catman took lots of pics of me in OSJ.  I don't know if I'll leave it up here for too long. But just to show Richard how much I appreciate all he did for me, I will post one! (Mind you I hadn't been on the beach yet, so no tan~)

Men? lots of gay couples vacationing there. Monday night at Juniors -Harcore Stripper show- $3 cover!! Well worth it!!  ;)

This place has alot more to it than Ft Lauderdale or SoBe, though Florida does have a nude beach~ :-\

P.S. I was squinting as the sun was very bright!! I also had to resize the pic so it looks a little off~

EDITED-as I read on in the forums, something is going on around here with this CSi thing, so until I figure it out, I removed my pics

The first year I stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel they were a bit more relaxed than they later became about "guests" -- I swear, back then it was like a brothel.  So much scandal.  I think one Tea Dance I must have had four different guys in my room, one who insisted on pouring cocaine down his foreskin.  And another tied me with his belt to the bed's headboard and I yanked it out of the wall it was bolted to.  Thank goodness we were able to just shove it back in and I didn't get charged for room damage.

I think they used to have a hot tub up on the roof but I only recall that being opened one year.  Is that old man still running the place and walking around in an endless amount of colored espadrilles?
