Title: Medication
Post by: gemski2k13 on December 03, 2013, 01:00:10 pm
Hi there,

I have a question and it may sound silly but im gonna ask without sounding rude.  This is not about myself.

suppose a friend of mine was diagnosed with HIV over 10 years ago and in this time has never took any medication or had any treatment, would it even be possible for them to live this long?

yes, if their cd4 count was within normal range and they had a consistently low viral load. I know someone who went almost 30 years before they went on meds, and another 15 years. It is rare but it does happen.

Please only post in this one thread in the Someone I care about forum . As a HIV negative person you are not authorized to post in any other forums so I moved your topic here where it belongs . Thanks .

Hello,

I am from Lithuania. My husband is positive since April 2013. The test result at that time  was cd4-700 and vl - 18K. After half a year cd4 dropped down to 420. And vl also dropped down to 6K. The doctor said we don't have to worry a lot as the cd4 could change several times during a day. And the vl is not very high.
But I wonder if the decrease of cd4 isn't too big for 6 months? like almost 300?
Should we take another test..
Treatment is available in this country when cd4 is less than 350.

Thank you.
